Tata Motors, a key player in India’s automotive sector, has unveiled its futuristic electric SUV coupe, the Tata Curvv EV concept. Set to debut in April 2024, this innovative vehicle showcases Tata’s ‘Digital’ design language and the capabilities of its Generation 2 EV platform. The Curvv is positioned in the mid-size SUV segment, offering a ground clearance of around 200 mm for off-road capability. As a five-seater compact SUV coupe, it provides adjustable front seat configurations and an impressive range of 400-500 km on a single charge. The electric powertrain, likely using a lithium-ion pack with Tata’s Ziptron technology, supports fast charging in under an hour with a 50 kW DC fast charger. Normal AC charging at 7 kW may take 8-10 hours. While the top speed is undisclosed, estimates suggest around 160 km/h, depending on driving modes. Variant details are pending, but expectations include at least a base and top variant.

Vayve Mobility, a Pune-based automotive startup, introduced the prototype of ‘Eva,’ touted as India’s first solar-powered electric vehicle, at Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida. Eva, a two-seater, climate-controlled car with space for two adults and a child, is designed for ease of maneuverability and parking. Equipped with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility, a 6-way adjustable driver seat, and a panoramic sunroof, it features solar panels on the roof for additional charging alongside a 14 kWh battery pack. The vehicle is propelled by a 6kW liquid-cooled PMSM electric motor, offering a 250 km range on a single charge. With a Monocoque chassis, IP68-certified powertrain, and safety features like a driver airbag, the company plans to launch Eva in 2024. Charging options include a 4-hour standard house socket charge and an 80 percent charge in 45 minutes on CCS2.

Audi’s eagerly anticipated Q6 e-Tron is poised for an early 2024 debut, and recent sightings of three prototypes provide the clearest glimpse yet of its design. Seen in both SUV and Sportback coupe-SUV styles during testing, the vehicles exhibit distinctive features such as Matrix LED headlights, full-width OLED taillights, and a sleek silver grille surrounded by black trim. With a bold design reminiscent of the Q4 e-Tron, the Q6 e-Tron adds black accents around windows and a lower profile for a more expansive look. Audi has also confirmed a Sportback variant with unique design elements. Tata Motors revealed the Harrier EV Concept at the Auto Expo 2023, showcasing a futuristic design inspired by the Curvv Concept. The five-seater electric SUV features an illuminated Tata logo, sleek LED headlamps, and an aggressive bumper design. The concept omits door handles for a streamlined profile, while the rear exhibits futuristic-looking tail lamps. Inside, the production version is expected to offer updates such as a new touchscreen, digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, smartphone integration, connectivity suite, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) tech.

Although technical details are yet to be specified, Tata has disclosed that the Harrier EV will be based on the Gen2 architecture with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration. The electric SUV is anticipated to adopt a two-motor layout—one for each axle—and the Gen2 architecture allows for a larger battery size and enhanced power output. Further information on the battery pack and power specifics is currently undisclosed.
