Propel EV Dump Trucks

Propel Industries, a key player in Crushing and Screening Equipment, revealed two types of EV Dump Trucks at EXCON 2023. With Mr. Nitin Gadkari, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, in attendance. The Electric Vehicle Dump Trucks, named 470 MEV and 470 HEV, have gross vehicle weights of 45 and 60 and are proudly crafted in India.  

Sharing more details about the venture, Mr. V. Senthilkumar, Managing Director, Propel Industries Private Limited, said,

  • Custom-configured batteries, based on mine distance and gradient, ensure driving times of 6 to 12 hours on a single charge, with rapid 0-100% SOC charging in just 1 hour.
  • Significant fuel savings, with running costs 1/3rd to 1/5th less than fossil fuel trucks; regenerative braking may eliminate the need for charging in certain mines.
  • Lithium batteries with a chilled cooling system ensure optimal temperature even in harsh environments, backed by safety features like Automatic fire extinguisher and Leakage Current detection.
  • 5-year/4000-cycle battery warranty, coupled with industry-leading safety features (Payload detection, Driver fatigue warning, Automatic headlamp dipper) and comfort features (HVAC cool cabin, Automatic transmission).
  • The reinforced chassis frame is designed for extreme road and payload conditions, ABS with Hill start assist ensures comfortable and safe uphill driving, and heavy-duty hub reduction axles cater to high torque and payload. 

Propel Industries is set to broaden its electric truck portfolio into on-road applications by the second quarter of fiscal year 2024, currently undergoing homologation for roadworthiness.
