The Indian carmaker Mahindra is getting ready to introduce a new car called the XUV.e8. But before they officially start selling it, they’ve been testing it out in different places. Recently, people saw this new electric car being tested in Chennai. This gave everyone a good look at what it would look like and some important details about it.

This new car, the XUV.e8, is an electric SUV that many people are excited about. Mahindra plans to release it first in December 2024. They also have plans for two more electric cars after that: the e9 in April 2025 and the BE.05 in October 2025.

However, Mahindra changed their plans a bit. Now, instead of releasing the XUV.e8 first, they’ll launch the XUV.e9 before that. The XUV.e9 is a more upgraded and premium version of the XUV.e8. They’re expected to reveal it on Independence Day 15th August 2024. People might be able to book it around September or October, and the deliveries will start after that. The Mahindra XUV.e9 is expected to cost between Rs. 50.00 Lakh and Rs. 52.00 Lakh, depending on the version you choose.

Battery And Range

The Mahindra XUV.e9 will use a new platform called INGLO. It will have two types of batteries: Blade and Prismatic. The motor will be between 60 and 80 kW, and the power will be between 170 and 290 kWh.

The XUV.e9 can go up to 450 km on a single charge, according to the WLTP test. It can also charge very fast, up to 175 kW. It will take only 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent.

The XUV.e9 can have either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The RWD models will have up to 285 PS of power, and the AWD models will have up to 394 PS of power.



It will have a coupe SUV body style, with striking design elements like stacked headlamps, LED DRLs, and wheel sizes between 17 to 20 inches. Inside, expect a panoramic sunroof, advanced displays, OTA updates, Level 2 autonomous driving, and premium interiors.


The XUV.e9 has not been tested for safety by GNCAP or BNCAP yet. But it may have 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, TPMS, and ADAS features like lane keep assist and auto emergency braking.

The Mahindra XUV.e9 does not have any direct rivals right now. But it may compete with the Tata Harrier EV & Hyundai Creta EV in the future.
