 MTech Program in Electric Vehicle Technology

Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur, in association with pManifold evACAD launched MTech Program in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology, in line with National Education Policy: NEP 2020 and India’s goal towards electrification of automobiles.

With the penetration of Electric Vehicles expected to be more than 30% by 2030 in India, there would be a high demand for skilled professionals in the Electric Vehicle (EV) and allied component industry. Hence, professionals need to re-skill themselves in this area to become industry ready. This M Tech program aims to shape the future of EV technology and foster a new generation of engineers prepared to lead the e-Mobility revolution.

Two-year Diploma in EV Technology 

The two-year hybrid learning program is thoughtfully designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of EV technology, empowering them to drive innovation and make significant contributions to this industry. It offers a comprehensive curriculum led by esteemed faculty from VNIT and top industry-leading experts from the EV domain. Key program highlights include a provision for working professionals to earn an esteemed M. Tech degree from VNIT Nagpur while working, with a provision to exit at various stages to get Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma.  Besides VNIT faculty, top EV industry professionals would teach in online and offline mode with a hybrid learning approach. Practical hands-on labs and projects at the VNIT EV Center of Excellence (CoE) and live online classes with interaction with top EV experts ensure students are job-ready and equipped with real-world skills.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the MTech in EV Technology, students will gain a wide range of industry-relevant skills, including but not limited to:

  1. Understanding fundamentals that differentiate EVs from traditional ICE vehicles
  2. In-depth knowledge of powertrain electrification.
  3. Proficiency in systems engineering for EV design.
  4. Expertise in model-based development for EV design & development.
  5. Hands-on experience in disassembling and reassembling electric vehicles.
  6. Proficiency in Design, Verification and Validation Planning (DVVP).
  7. Ability to design EV controllers and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
  8. Advanced knowledge of Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
  9. Mastery of smart mobility, including ADAS levels & connected vehicles.
  10. Utilizing diagnostics, loT, and data analytics in the EV domain.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, students will gain valuable experience through project work, internships, and the support of pManifold’s evACAD – a Nagpur-based VNIT Alumnus organization that consults more than 40 countries related to EV policies, market research, and Go-to-market strategies.

The VNIT MTech is open to engineering graduates from any stream since there would be an initial bridge course to understand the basics of electrical, electronics & automotive engineering.
