Price Hike in Electric Scooters

Many automobile companies manufacturing electric vehicles have increased their prices recently. Famous Electric Scooter Manufacturing companies like TVS Iqube and Ampere Electric get a Major Price Hike in Electric Scooters recently due to a decrease in the amount of FAME II subsidies. Let us know how much the price of TVS Iqube and Ampere Electric has increased after the subsidy Reduction.


Price Hike in Ampere Electric Scooters

Ampere is a part of the company, Greaves Electric Mobility. The company after entering into the electric vehicles industry, is manufacturing affordable electric scooters for the Indian market. The revised prices have been applicable on its electric scooters from the 1st of June, 2023.

The prices of Ampere electric scooters have increased in the range of Rs. 20,900 to Rs. 39, 100.

Ampere Zeal EX

Price

The most affordable e-scooter from Ampere vehicles is the Zeal Ex, whose price increased by a margin of Rs. 20,900. The revised cost of the Ampere Zeal EX is Rs. 95, 900.

Motor and Battery 

This electric scooter is provided with a 60 V, 2.3 kWh Li-ion battery. This provides power to a 1.8 kW electric motor. The Zeal EX battery can be fully charged in around 5 hours.

Range and top speed

The Zeal EX can achieve a range of 801-00 km. This electric scooter can achieve the greatest speed of 50-55 km/hour.

Ampere Magnus EX

 

Price

The price of the Ampere Magnus EX has been increased by Rs. 21,000. The revised price of the e-scooter is Rs. 1, 04, 900.

Charging system and battery

This electric scooter is provided with an advanced Li battery of rating 60 V, 38.25 Ah. The scooter takes about 6 – 7 hours for being completely charged.

Range and top speed

When fully charged, the Magnus EX can travel from 80 – 100 km. The top speed of this EV is about 50 km/hour. A speed of 0 – 40 km/hour can be achieved in about 10 seconds.

Ampere Primus

Price

One of the premium electric scooters from Ampere vehicles is Ampere Primus, whose price has been raised by Rs. 39, 100. The revised price of this electric scooter is Rs. 1.49 lakhs.

Top speed and range

This electric scooter from Ampere Vehicles is the fastest among all other e-scooters manufactured by the company. Ampere Primus can achieve the greatest speed of 77 km/hour. The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/ hour speed in 40 seconds. The vehicle has an ARAI-certified range of 107 km.


Price Hike in TVS Electric Scooters

The price of TVS electric scooters has increased by a margin of Rs. 17,000 to Rs. 22,000. The revised prices have been applicable from June 1, 2023.

TVS iQube 

TVS iQube electric scooter used to get a subsidy of Rs. 51,000 before the change in policies of FAME – II subsidy. The price of TVS iQube was Rs. 1.74 lakhs. And, the price of the TVS iQube S variant was Rs. 1.85 lakhs.

Range and Top Speed

The range of this electric scooter is 100 km. The TVS iQube electric can achieve a top speed of 78 km/hour.

Charging

The electric scooter can be charged up to 80 % in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Other Features

The TVS iQube has a U-shaped LED DRL with a full-color TFT instrument cluster. It has space under the seat for storing helmets, as well as a plug-and-play charger. This electric scooter has around 118 smart features.

CONCLUSION

The Indian government has decreased the FAME – II subsidy amount from Rs. 15,000 per kWh to Rs. 10, 000 per kWh. And, the maximum subsidy amount has been limited to 15% of the ex-showroom cost of the electric vehicle. It was 40% before the revision of the policies. As a result of these changes in subsidies, various OEMs like Ola Electric, TVS Iqube, Ampere vehicles, and Ather Energy have increased the prices of their electric scooters recently.
