After teasing the appearance of the Tata Punch EV, Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated electric vehicle Tata Punch today. This marks the brand’s fourth foray into the world of all-electric cars and the second introduction of an electric SUV. Notably, the Tata Punch EV stands out as the first vehicle built on Tata’s Pure EV architecture, named ‘Acti.EV,’ which stands for ‘Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle.’ This cutting-edge platform is a significant milestone for the Tata Punch EV and is poised to underpin the foundation of future Tata electric vehicles. With Tata Motors already making a notable impact in the electric vehicle sector, the launch of the Tata Punch EV adds another milestone to the brand’s journey in the dynamic arena of Electric transportation.

The Punch EV stands out prominently with distinct design differences compared to its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, distinguishing itself among Tata’s electric vehicles. Taking inspiration from the Nexon EV, the front end exhibits a scaled-down version of its electric sibling. Notable enhancements include a full-width LED light bar, a split headlamp setup characterized by trapezoidal housing for the main cluster, and a front bumper adorned with a faux silver skid plate. The side profile and rear maintain a familiar appearance, with updates like new alloy wheels and a dual-tone rear bumper adding a touch of freshness. A noteworthy feature is the Punch EV’s claim to fame as the first Tata electric vehicle to incorporate a front trunk (frunk), introducing both a practical and distinctive element to its overall design. 


The Tata Punch EV is set to redefine electric mobility with its dual driving range options: Long Range and Standard Range. Adding a personalized touch, the vehicle introduces four distinct personas—Smart, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. Here are the key specifications of both driving ranges:

The Tata Punch EV offers a choice between two batteries, a 25kWh option providing around 315km of MIDC range, and a 35kWh variant with approximately 421km of MIDC range. It accommodates two charger options—a 3.3kW wall box charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. Supporting DC fast charging, the Punch EV can achieve a 10-80 percent charge in a rapid 56 minutes using a 50kW DC fast charger.


The Tata Punch EV boasts a stunning array of five captivating colors, each adding a unique flair to its design:

Regarding personas, the long-range model will offer Empowered+, Empowered, and Adventure variants, providing the choice between models with and without a sunroof across both ranges. On the other hand, the standard range model will feature Empowered+, Empowered, Smart, and Smart+ personas. Tata Punch EV Smart:

The Smart variant of the Tata Punch EV is equipped with a 25kWh battery, providing an impressive claimed range of around 315km. It features LED headlamps for enhanced illumination and incorporates a multi-mode regenerative braking system, accessible through convenient paddle shifters. Prioritizing safety, the Smart persona includes an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and a comprehensive safety package with six airbags, ensuring a secure driving experience.

Tata Punch EV Adventure:

Building upon the Smart variant, the Adventure model offers dual battery options—25kWh for around 315km and a larger 35kWh battery extending the range to approximately 400km. It introduces cruise control and front fog lamps with a cornering function for added comfort during long journeys. Entertainment is taken up a notch with a 7-inch Infotainment system by Harman, coupled with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Adventure model also offers the option of a sunroof, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Tata Punch EV Empowered:

The Empowered variant of the Tata Punch EV stands out with distinctive 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, combining style and performance. Focused on air quality, it features an air purifier with an AQI display, promoting a healthy driving environment. The interior is tech-forward, boasting a 7-inch digital driver display and a spacious 10.25-inch Infotainment system by Harman. The optional sunroof adds a touch of sophistication, completing the package for a well-rounded driving experience.

Tata Punch EV Empowered+:

Elevating comfort and luxury, the Empowered+ variant of the Tata Punch EV offers leatherette seats and ventilated front seats for a pleasurable and relaxed driving experience. Safety is a top priority, with a 360-degree camera and blind spot monitor enhancing overall awareness on the road. This tech-savvy persona features the Arcade.ev app suite, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, delivering a comprehensive and connected driving experience. The Empowered+ persona epitomizes a blend of luxury, safety, and innovation.


The Tata Punch EV is strategically positioned between the Tiago EV MR and the Nexon EV MR in the lineup, directly targeting the Citroen eC3. The Punch EV has a starting ex-showroom price ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh to 14.49 lakh, making it an attractive and accessible option in the electric vehicle market. Deliveries start from 22nd January.

The electric vehicle (EV) lineup offers a choice between two distinct battery options and is available in five different variants. For the long-range models, an added feature includes the availability of a 7.2kW AC fast charger, which can be obtained for an extra Rs 50,000. Moreover, the Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ variants, offered in both models, present an enticing option to include a sunroof, with an additional cost of Rs 50,000.
