Hero Electric One Lakh Units Sales In 2022

India’s oldest and largest electric two-wheeler company recorded the highest-ever sales of over 100,000 units in the year 2022. The sales milestone reflects Hero’s market leadership for over a decade. Hero also has more than 6 lac customers using HERO ELECTRIC E-Scooters for over a decade. Hero Electric is focused on building a holistic EV ecosystem that supports the E2W category growth and has been inking numerous partnerships to cover all the needs and wants of the customers whether in Charging, Servicing, or Financing. The city-speed category and rapid electrification of the last-mile delivery segment continue its upward sales impetus aided by a robust infrastructure and heightened customer awareness.

Mr. Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric, said

“The EV business is so very different from an ICE vehicle business. We started from a ‘so-called green field’ but with not a single blade of grass 15 years back! We had to nurture the EV category like a delicate sapling and also protect it from headwinds that surprisingly came from the businesses that felt the heat of the exponential EV growth. One such hurdle thrown our way in 2022 was the carpet bombing of a tirade of malicious carefully curated incessant campaigns to bring down the top E2W players including us, carpet bombing all the ministries and the media. These faceless Swiss-based mails slowly spread their net to 12 EV players, leaving only the legacy players untouched. These mischievous elements were able to pull down our volumes to half of what had been planned but could not deprive us of the market leadership position. Achieving a historic high sale under such extraneous factors was no mean task and is a solid example of the grit and determination of TEAM HERO to remain the real Heroes against all odds. Our special thanks to our network, suppliers, and partners to make this happen.”

Future Plans

Hero Electric is set to achieve its target of 5 million EVs in 3 years as it continues to invest in production capacity enhancement, expanding its dealerships, and training/re-skill PGOs to build an ecosystem. It targets to train/re-skill over 25,000 mechanics under its PGO Initiative for an enhanced EV-owning experience. Addressing the needs of range anxiety, Hero has also set itself a target of building a comprehensive charging network by installing up to 20,000 stations through partnerships.

Make in India Mission

Committed to electrifying mobility in India, Hero Electric is collaborating to strengthen the local supply chain to encourage the Make in India mission. It has partnered with Battrixx, NIDEC, and numerous other component developers to bring EVs to par with ICE counterparts. Hero Electric signed the MoU for its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for its enhanced capacity plant in Ludhiana.
