Gogoro, a Taiwanese EV battery swapping company, has announced its entry into India with an EV ecosystem pilot program the company will collaborate with Zypp Electric on the pilot project, which will begin in December 2022.
Gogoro is a Taiwanese company that created a battery-swapping refueling platform for electric two-wheel scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles in urban areas. It also produces its electric scooters and provides vehicle innovations to vehicle manufacturer partners such as Hero, Yamaha, Aeonmotor, PGO, easy, and eMOVING. Gogoro also operates GoShare, a ride-sharing service, in Taiwan and on Japan’s Ishigaki Island.
Zypp Electric, India’s Leading EV-as-a-Service Platform, was established in 2017 with the goal of making India carbon-free by utilizing an ecosystem of electric vehicles and EV-based technology to provide sustainable and emission-free last-mile logistics. The goal of Zypp Electric’s business strategy is to minimize delivery costs and pollution on an asset-light basis by performing carbon-free last-mile deliveries for small local businesses, large e-commerce companies, and delivery executives. The company now uses completely automated IoT and AI-enabled scooters that are low-maintenance and high-performance to deliver groceries, medications, food, and e-commerce products from point A to point B
Gogoro and Zypp Electric Partnership
One of the leading providers of EV battery-swapping solutions has officially announced its presence in India. With Zypp Electric as a partner, the company will launch a B2B pilot project in India. In December 2022, the EV ecosystem pilot program will be launched. The program will concentrate on making battery swapping possible and increasing electric adoption for last-mile logistics.

The B2B project will be launched by Gogoro and Zypp alongside an entire EV ecosystem that includes Gogoro network stations, Gogoro smart batteries, and Gogoro smart scooters. According to the company, the results of this pilot project will be used to expand its operations in India.
Gogoro has performed over 350 million battery swaps globally to date, and the company believes that battery swapping could be a viable solution for the Indian automotive market to adopt electric mobility. The company operates over 11,000 battery-swapping stations in over 2,240 locations worldwide. Every day, Gogoro performs over 370,000 battery swaps.
What’s in store?
This new deal will bring a transformation in terms of cleaner cities and new transportation methods. This will also lead to an increase in FDI investment in India. However, the future is yet to decipher itself.
