With the market facing a rapid boom in the Electric Vehicle industry and several ‘A-listers already gearing up to launch successors of their previous models, Hyundai Motors, which is one of the leading companies in India, is planning to launch their second Electric Car in the second quarter of 2022. The company has mentioned that the name IONIQ is a combination of two different words – Ion and Unique. KONA EV was Hyundai’s first electric car.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV
Recently, Hyundai IONIQ was in the spotlight when it won three different awards in the World Car Awards 2022, namely, World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year.
The IONIQ 5 would be Hyundai’s first electric car that will be based upon the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This platform enables the IONIQ 5 by offering a better driving range, improved handling, and super fast charging.
By 2028, Hyundai aims to launch at least 6 electric cars. To quote the MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, “Hyundai Motor India has already committed to the expansion of our BEV line up to six models by 2028, and today, with great pride we are announcing the introduction of IONIQ 5 in CY 2022 in India”, said Unsoo Kim
The IONIQ 5 offers a super crisp and impactful design that attracts the buyers with the desire to ride an environment-friendly powerful EV without compromising on Style and Comfort. Hyundai IONIQ also claims that apart from ticking the external boxes, they have also taken care of the interior as well. The inside of the IONIQ 5 is constructed with several environment-friendly materials.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 will launch in India in two different variants, AWD and 2WD.
The 2WD model gets a rear axle mounted. The 2WD model variant offers an electric motor that produces 217 HP of power with torque being 350 NM, while the AWD offers an electric motor that churns out 305 HP of power with torque being 605 NM.
The vehicle would scale 0-60mph in a minuscule time of 4.5 seconds. On a full charge, the vehicle would cover a distance of 256 miles. The captivating highlight of this beast is its charging algorithm. The powerful Battery rocks up the charging digits from 10 to 80% within 18 minutes, up to 235 kW, with 350 kW DC fast charging. The curb weight released is 4,663 pounds with the cargo volume being 27.2/59.3 cubic feet.
Price and Launch Date in India
Hyundai is all set to launch the Ioniq 5 EV on June 2023 at a price of between Rs. 40 to 60 lakhs in India (Expected ex-showroom price)
