With the flourishing situation in the EV Industry, Lithium is a critical factor, Lithium is used mainly in the manufacturing of EV batteries. As the government pushes the use of electric vehicles the demand for lithium is on the rise. It is also used in the electricity department for storage utilities.

The government of India approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for manufacturing Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) in the country. The layout of the plan is 18,100 crores for a duration of five years.

More Reserves Will be Found in the Future

During the meeting, the proposed Annual Programme for the upcoming Field Season 2023–2024 was presented and discussed. In the upcoming season, the GSI is taking up 966 programs comprising 318 mineral exploration projects including 12 marine investigation projects. A major thrust has been given to the exploration of strategic-critical and fertilizer minerals. A total of 115 projects on strategic & critical minerals including 16 projects on fertilizer minerals have been formulated. In addition, 55 programs on geoinformatics, 140 programs on fundamental and multidisciplinary geosciences, and 155 programs for training and institutional capacity building have also been taken up.
