Ather 450S Electric Scooter

As the competition in the electric vehicle (EV) industry is rising day by day and subsidies have been exhausted in many states, electric vehicle manufacturers are trying to make new and affordable electric vehicles to increase their sales. The electric vehicle manufacturer, Ather, has been preparing itself for the launch of the more affordable electric scooter, the Ather 450S.

There is great competition from other OEMs like Ola, Hero MotorCorp, Simple One, Honda electric scooters, and Gogoro.

Cost-cutting Variant

You might be wondering where the cost-cutting will be in Ather’s new variant, the 450S. Let us tell you about that. The electric vehicle company’s newly launched variant, the 450S, will not have some of the advanced features that were already there in its previous variant, the 450X. And this is because of the concerns of the common people about affordability. The price of all-electric vehicles is so high that people are thinking again and again before buying. Some can’t afford it, and some are buying through monthly installments.

Features

To address these concerns, Ather has thought to cut out a few features. Some are not really required on electric scooters, like the full-color 7-inch TFT display. In the 450X variant, Ather has not included the color screen display. It has installed a gray-scale unit in that EV.

There are also many features that are necessary for electric scooters. Those features are music and call access, guide-me-home light, park assist, 4G connectivity, and light assist. Although these features are not available in the standard 450X variant, they are present in many other electric scooters. Thus, the newly launched 450S variant of Ather will not have most of these features for manufacturing and selling electric scooters at an affordable price.

Price

The price of the Ather 450X base variant was Rs. 98,079. And Ather’s new variant, the 450S, will cost less than Rs. 1.5 lakh. The subsidy provided by the central government under FAME II is Rs. 55,000, and the state subsidy provided to the customers is Rs. 18,300. Therefore, the customer will get Rs. 18,300 cashback in his or her account after buying the Ather electric scooter. Thus, we can say that the effective showroom cost is Rs. 76,000 in New Delhi, India. This price is equivalent to the price of a Honda Activa. And it can be affordable for people in our country.
