  • Uber- a ride-sharing company,  has been teaming up with rental companies, EV manufacturers, and charging companies to reach our zero-emission mobility

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has shared on social media stating “Today is a big day in our collective effort to meaningfully tackle climate change. The Inflation Reduction Act, signed today by President Biden, is a win for drivers and for the environment.

Uber has been teaming up with rental companies, EV manufacturers, and charging companies to reach our zero-emission mobility goal and this legislation will bolster our work to make every Uber ride an electric one by 2040.

Specifically, we welcome:
— A newly defined $4,000 tax credit for used EVs, and
— Consumer EV tax credits that can be applied at the point of sale. (Both are recommendations from the World Resources Institute’s report, “Electrifying Ridehailing”.)
—Removal of the 200,000 caps on automobile manufacturers to qualify for the tax credit will also help increase the supply of EVs.
— Funding for safe street design and environmental justice which helps make all trips on the Uber platform safer.

More fully-electric rides take place on Uber today than ever before, thanks to new products like Uber Comfort Electric, our ongoing incentives and charging investments for drivers, and new partnerships like ours with Hertz making Teslas accessible to more drivers on the Uber platform.

Climate is a team sport. We’re excited to continue working with our public and private partners to make sure drivers on the Uber platform can be a part of the clean energy revolution!”
