The TATA Nexon EV is the highest-selling electric car in 2022 in India, with a total sales of more than 35,000 units. This electric SUV comes in two variants – Max and Prime giving a range of 437 km and 312 km respectively on a single charge. The Nexon EV Max has a battery capacity of 40.5 kWh while its Prime variant has a 30.2 kWh capacity.
Tata Nexon EV Battery Types
The Tata Nexon EV uses Lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) cells, as LFP has more ability for thermal stress than nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells.
The Nexon EV battery is made in India. The battery pack is Liquid Cooled in which liquid such as Water, Ethylene glycol is used as a coolant to extract heat from the cells. The battery pack can operate safely in limits from 0°C to 50°C.
Tata Nexon EV Battery Replacement Cost
The Nexon EV comes with a battery life of eight years or a 160,000 km warranty for the battery, whichever is earlier. According to the review of the Nexon EV users, the battery replacement cost is around Rs 7 Lakhs.
The battery is sourced from Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, which has a joint venture with China’s Guoxuan Hi-Tech to produce them locally.
