Tata Motors Unveils India’s First Satellite-Based EV Charging System

At the recent Tata Harrier EV Quad Day event, held at Buddh International Circuit, a major breakthrough in EV charging was showcased.

Nearly 90 Tata Harrier EVs were charged using a next-generation dispenser-based satellite charging system, a clear indication of India’s progress in building smart, scalable EV infrastructure.

What is a Dispenser-Based Satellite Charging System?

Unlike traditional charging setups, where each charger has its bulky equipment, this system works differently:

• A central power cabinet is installed at the site.
• Multiple satellite dispensers (charging guns) are connected to this main cabinet using long cables and underground conduits.
• These dispensers are placed at various convenient points across the site, just like fuel dispensers at a petrol pump.

This allows multiple vehicles to be charged simultaneously from a single power source, making the entire process more streamlined and efficient.
