The Kia Carens EV was first spotted testing in South Korea more than a year ago. Now, for the first time, the electric version of the Carens has been spotted on Indian roads.

Although the Kia Carens EV will retain the overall platform, body shell, and much of the interior from the ICE model, there will be significant cosmetic changes.

The front of the Carens EV will feature a closed-off grille similar to Kia’s flagship EV9, aligning it with other models in Kia’s electric portfolio. The front and rear bumpers will also be restyled, giving the EV version a sleeker, more modern look.

The alloy wheels will also resemble those seen on the Kia EV line-up, particularly the EV3 and EV5. One key detail from the spy shots is the absence of an exhaust pipe and a different suspension setup at the rear, further distinguishing it from the ICE model.

The Kia Carens EV will share its powertrain with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, as both models are built on a similar platform.

This is expected to include a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor, which is already being used in the entry-level variant of the new-gen Kona EV overseas.

The Carens EV, like the Creta EV, will feature a front-mounted electric motor. The Creta EV is set to launch before the Carens, giving consumers a preview of the powertrain performance to expect from Kia’s electric MPV.

Kia Carens EV Price, Range, and Battery Pack

In June 2025, Kia is expected to launch the all-new Kia Carens EV in India at an estimated price of around Rs. 22 to 25 lakhs (Ex-Showroom).

Once launched, the Kia Carens EV will face competition from the BYD eMax 7, one of the few direct rivals in the electric MPV space.

Both models aim to offer spacious, eco-friendly alternatives to conventional MPVs, appealing to families and businesses alike.

The BYD eMax 7’s early presence in the market may give it an edge, but the Carens EV’s design, powertrain, and features could make it a strong contender.

The global debut of the Kia Carens EV is expected in the first half of 2025. With this launch, Kia is set to strengthen its electric vehicle offerings in India, tapping into the country’s growing demand for EVs.

The India launch of the three-row Kia EV9 is also on the horizon, set for October 3, further establishing Kia as a key player in the electric vehicle segment.
