Ola is gearing up to launch a new electric sedan in 2024. The car boasts a stylish coupe-like design featuring pop-out door handles and a full LED light setup, with a focus on aerodynamics, sporting a claimed drag coefficient of just 0.21.  One noteworthy feature is the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) included with the car. In terms of performance, the electric sedan is expected to offer a range of over 500 kilometers, achieve a sub-five-second 0-100 km/h time, and come equipped with a glass roof. The launch is eagerly anticipated, promising an exciting addition to Ola’s electric vehicle lineup shortly. 

2] Byd Seal

BYD, a prominent player in the electric vehicle market, is set to bring out its most prominent electric car in the coming year. The BYD Seal, an innovative electric sedan, is set to redefine sustainable transportation in the Indian market. Priced around Rs. 70 lakh, the Seal boasts cutting-edge technology and a sleek design. The car is expected to launch in February 2024. With a remarkable range of 700 km per charge (claimed 550 km), it outpaces most EVs in India. The sedan features a robust 61.4kWh or 82.5kWh battery pack, enabling rapid charging at 110kW and 150kW stations. Offering versatility, the Seal comes with both single and double motor options, allowing users to customize power and performance. The dual-motor models, with a combined 530 horsepower output, accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. 

3] Fiskar Ocean

 The Fisker Ocean is creating a buzz with its attractive design, innovative features, and impressive driving range. The California-based startup commenced sales of its first U.S.-spec Oceans in late 2023, showcasing swift acceleration and balanced handling. The 2024 lineup introduces the off-road-ready Force E model, equipped with aggressive all-terrain tires and enhanced ground clearance. The limited-edition One trim has been discontinued. The entry-level Sport model, powered by a single electric motor, produces 275 horsepower, reaching 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. The Ultra and Extreme models feature all-wheel drive, with the quickest version accelerating to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, boasting 564 horsepower and 543 pound-feet of torque. Battery options include different sizes, with the largest 106.0-kWh pack providing an EPA-estimated range of 360 miles.

4] Tata Curvv EV

Tata Motors, a key player in India’s automotive sector, has unveiled its futuristic electric SUV coupe, the Tata Curvv EV concept. Set to debut in April 2024, this innovative vehicle showcases Tata’s ‘Digital’ design language and the capabilities of its Generation 2 EV platform. The Curvv is positioned in the mid-size SUV segment, offering a ground clearance of around 200 mm for off-road capability. As a five-seater compact SUV coupe, it provides adjustable front seat configurations and an impressive range of 400-500 km on a single charge. The electric powertrain, likely using a lithium-ion pack with Tata’s Ziptron technology, supports fast charging in under an hour with a 50 kW DC fast charger. Normal AC charging at 7 kW may take 8-10 hours. While the top speed is undisclosed, estimates suggest around 160 km/h, depending on driving modes. Variant details are pending, but expectations include at least a base and top variant.

5] Vayve Mobility EVA

 Vayve Mobility, a Pune-based automotive startup, introduced the prototype of ‘Eva,’ touted as India’s first solar-powered electric vehicle, at Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida. Eva, a two-seater, climate-controlled car with space for two adults and a child, is designed for ease of maneuverability and parking. Equipped with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility, a 6-way adjustable driver seat, and a panoramic sunroof, it features solar panels on the roof for additional charging alongside a 14 kWh battery pack. The vehicle is propelled by a 6kW liquid-cooled PMSM electric motor, offering a 250 km range on a single charge. With a Monocoque chassis, IP68-certified powertrain, and safety features like a driver airbag, the company plans to launch Eva in 2024. Charging options include a 4-hour standard house socket charge and an 80 percent charge in 45 minutes on CCS2. 

6] Mahindra XUV.e8

Limited information is available on the Mahindra XUV.e8, but here’s a glimpse of what’s known. The XUV.e8 features a distinctive front fascia with a full-width LED light bar that vertically extends into the bumper at both ends. The new front grille is fully sealed, complemented by fresh headlamp designs. The vehicle maintains flush door handles and introduces a new alloy wheel design. Changes to the rear design appear minimal, featuring a connected LED light bar and an updated rear bumper. Unique copper-themed design highlights, initially seen in the XUV400 EV, are present. The XUV.e8 dimensions measure 4,740mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,760mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,762mm. It is slightly larger than the XUV700. Confirmed specifications include an 80kWh battery, all-wheel drive technology, and two power options – 230hp and 350hp.

The all-electric BMW i5, available in two models – i5eDrive40 and i5M60 – showcases executive presence, top-tier technology, and dynamic performance. The i5M60, based on 2024 specifications, boasts a 0-60 MPH acceleration in 3.7 seconds, 593 max horsepower, and 586 lb.-ft of torque, all powered by dual-motor all-wheel drive technology. Engineered for dynamism, the i5 prioritizes balance, responsiveness, and nimble steering with its low center of gravity and optimal body rigidity.  The interior offers a personalized driving experience through My Modes, including options like Personal, Sport, Efficient, Expressive, Relax, and Digital Art. The i5eDrive40 model, with a starting MSRP of $68,000, provides a range of 295 miles and accelerates from 0-60 MPH in 5.7 seconds. The i5M60, with a starting MSRP of $88,600, has a range of 256 miles and achieves 0-60 MPH in 3.7 seconds. Both models feature a battery capacity of up to 81.2 kWh, offering an estimated range between 240 to 295 miles. 

8] Skoda Enyaq iV

Skoda is set to launch its first electric vehicle in India, the Enyaq iV, within this financial year. Acting as a market test, the Enyaq iV is an all-electric SUV based on the VW Group’s MEB platform, shared with models like the Volkswagen ID 4 and Audi Q4 e-tron. With dimensions close to the Skoda Kodiaq, it is a 5-seat SUV with two rows of seats, measuring 4,648mm in length and 1,877mm in width. Skoda has been testing various Enyaq prototypes in India, primarily the Enyaq iV 80x, featuring a 77kWh battery supporting up to 125kW DC fast charging. This high-powered variant, equipped with dual motors for AWD capability, generates a total of 265hp, accelerates from 0-100kph in 6.9 seconds, and boasts a WLTP-rated range of up to 513km. The Enyaq iV will serve as a pivotal step in determining Skoda’s future electric vehicle lineup for the Indian market.

9] Tesla Model S

The 2024 Model S continues as the flagship luxury car for the brand, boasting a maximum estimated range of 405 miles per charge, placing it among the top-performing EVs. Its outstanding performance and sports-sedan agility deliver an exhilarating driving experience. Featuring electric motors dedicated to both front and rear axles, the Model S provides full-time all-wheel drive across all versions. The expected models include the Long Range and Plaid, with driving ranges varying between them. The Long Range model achieves up to 405 miles per charge, while the Plaid follows closely behind at 396 miles.

10] Audi Q6 e-tron

Audi’s eagerly anticipated Q6 e-Tron is poised for an early 2024 debut, and recent sightings of three prototypes provide the clearest glimpse yet of its design. Seen in both SUV and Sportback coupe-SUV styles during testing, the vehicles exhibit distinctive features such as Matrix LED headlights, full-width OLED taillights, and a sleek silver grille surrounded by black trim. With a bold design reminiscent of the Q4 e-Tron, the Q6 e-Tron adds black accents around windows and a lower profile for a more expansive look.

Audi has also confirmed a Sportback variant with unique design elements. The interior, previously unveiled, boasts a tech-packed dashboard, including an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and a 10.9-inch front passenger display.  The Q6 e-Tron is built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, sharing with the A6 e-Tron and Porsche Macan. Technical specifications include an 800-volt electrical system, a 100 kWh battery pack providing a 373-mile range, and 270 kW fast-charging support. There are potential plans for a more robust RS version in the future. 

11] Tata Harrier EV

Tata Motors revealed the Harrier EV Concept at the Auto Expo 2023, showcasing a futuristic design inspired by the Curvv Concept. The five-seater electric SUV features an illuminated Tata logo, sleek LED headlamps, and an aggressive bumper design. The concept omits door handles for a streamlined profile, while the rear exhibits futuristic-looking tail lamps. Inside, the production version is expected to offer updates such as a new touchscreen, digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, smartphone integration, connectivity suite, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) tech. Although technical details are yet to be specified, Tata has disclosed that the Harrier EV will be based on the Gen2 architecture with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration. The electric SUV is anticipated to adopt a two-motor layout—one for each axle—and the Gen2 architecture allows for a larger battery size and enhanced power output. Further information on the battery pack and power specifics is currently undisclosed.
