Mercedes Benz EQS is the first electric car on our list. The Mercedes Benz EQS  has an ARAI-certified range of 857 kilometers in India. The EQS is Mercedes-Benz’s first-ever fully electric car, and it comes in two versions: the locally assembled 580 4Matic and the imported AMG 53. The AMG EQS 53 is quite powerful, giving you 649hp in regular mode and a whopping 751hp in Race Start mode with the Dynamic Plus package. The EQS 580 is no slouch either, delivering 385hp and 855Nm of torque. Both versions have a 400V, 107.8kWh battery that can charge quickly at up to 200kW.

The AMG EQS 53 has a global range of 586km (WLTP), and the EQS 580, approved by ARAI for India, boasts an impressive 857km range. It has a top speed of 210 km/h. These electric cars redefine what’s possible, blending high performance with eco-friendly tech.

The Kia EV6 is the second electric car on our list. The ARAI claims that the Kia EV6 has a driving range of 708 km

The Kia EV6, priced between Rs 60.95 lakh and Rs 65.95 lakh, offers a single top-of-the-line GT trim with two variations: GT Line RWD and GT Line AWD. The electric vehicle is equipped with two drivetrain options—a single-motor rear-wheel drive delivering 229PS and 350Nm, and a dual-motor all-wheel drive with an impressive 325PS and 605Nm. Powering the EV6 is a robust 77.4kWh battery pack, supporting fast charging that accelerates from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. While a 50kW charger takes 73 minutes for the same range, a home charger requires 36 hours for a full charge. The Kia EV6 combines high performance with efficient charging solutions, making it a noteworthy option in the electric vehicle market.

Hyundai Ioniq 5  is the third electric car on our list.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 boasts an impressive range of 631 km on a single charge, powered by its 72.6 kWh battery pack. Its electric motor generates 214.56 bhp and offers a maximum torque of 350 Nm, delivering efficient performance. Equipped with a single-speed transmission, the Ioniq 5 excels in charging capabilities, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger. Additionally, when charging with AC, it takes 6 hours and 55 minutes to achieve a full charge, ensuring convenient and flexible charging options for users.

#4- BMW i4 

The Four-door sedan BMW i4 boasts a range of 590 km. The BMW i4 eDrive 40 Sport was launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 69.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Representing BMW’s inaugural four-door sedan offering both in India and globally, it came in two variants— the BMW i4 eDrive 40 and BMW i4 M50 xDrive. However, for the Indian market, BMW exclusively introduced the i4 eDrive 40 variant, which was offered as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The range-topping BMW i4 M50 xDrive featured two electric motors, providing an all-wheel-drive experience, generating 544 horsepower and 795 Nm of torque. Housing its 80.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack on the floor for a lower center of gravity, the BMW i4 eDrive 40 claimed a 5.7-second sprint to 100 km/h, while the BMW i4 M50 xDrive variant achieved the same in 3.9 seconds.

The company asserted a range of 590 km (WLTP-certified) for the eDrive 40 and 510 km (WLTP-certified) for the i4 M50 xDrive. Charging fully in 8.25 hours with an 11kW home charger, the batteries also supported rapid charging up to 205 kW (DC), allowing the eDrive40 to gain 164 km in a 10-minute charge or a 100 km range in just 18 minutes using a 50 kW DC Charger.

 #5- TATA NEXON EV

Tata Nexon EV is the fifth player on our list. The top variant of the Tata Nexon EV gives a long range of 465 km. The 2023 Nexon EV presents a choice between two powerful powertrain options to meet diverse driving preferences. The Long Range variant, armed with a 40.5kWh battery and a robust electric motor, delivers an impressive 143PS/215Nm and achieves an ARAI-claimed range of 465km. In contrast, the Medium Range variant features a 30kWh battery coupled to an e-motor, producing 129PS/215Nm and offering a commendable ARAI-claimed range of 325km.

Charging the 2023 Nexon EV is a seamless process, with a 7.2kW AC charger taking around 4.3 hours for the medium-range variant and approximately 6 hours for the long-range variant. Regular chargers extend these timeframes to 10.5 hours and 15 hours, respectively. For swift charging needs, a DC fast charger efficiently replenishes the Nexon EV’s battery in just 56 minutes.

The sixth electric car in the list is of MS ZS EV. The car delivers the highest range of 461 km. 

MG unveiled the refreshed ZS EV in 2022, featuring a larger 50.3kWh unit. Charging capabilities have been enhanced with a 7.4kW AC wall box charger, allowing the ZS to achieve a 0-100 percent charge in 8.5 to 9 hours. Notably, the 0-80 percent charge on a 50kW DC charger now takes just 60 minutes. The ZS EV maintains its regenerative braking system, offering three levels of intensity adjustment. The updated model boasts 176hp, accelerating from 0 to 100kph in 8.4 seconds, with marginal variations in 20-80kph and 40-100kph acceleration times compared to its predecessor. However, the noteworthy change lies in the increased top speed, now reaching 180kph, a significant improvement of 28kph over the previous version.

The last car on the list is the Mahindra XUV400. It boasts the highest range of 456 km. The Mahindra XUV400, priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh, offers two variations, EC and EL, with color options including Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Infinity Blue. Additionally, it provides five monochromatic and five dual-tone variants, all available in dual-tone with a Satin Copper shade. The XUV400 EV is equipped with two battery pack sizes, 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, powering a single electric motor producing 150 PS and 310 Nm. Fast-charging capabilities include a 50kW DC charger, enabling the EV to go from 0 to 80 percent charge in just 50 minutes.
