Skoda India is preparing to make a strong impact in the electric vehicle market with a range of EV models, sparking significant anticipation. One of the key highlights is the upcoming Skoda Elroq EV, which marks the brand’s entry into the midsize SUV EV segment.

Positioned between the flagship Enyaq iV and the compact Epiq EV set for a 2025 release, the Elroq is set to cater to those looking for a balanced option between compact and full-size electric SUVs.

While detailed specifications are still under wraps, the Skoda Elroq is expected to incorporate the brand’s characteristic blend of practicality and innovation, with features tailored to the modern EV landscape.

It promises to bring competitive range, interior space, and cutting-edge technology to Skoda’s EV lineup.

This article covers everything we know so far about the much-anticipated Skoda Elroq EV.

Skoda Elroq EV Design and looks

Skoda has infused its Modern Solid design language into the Elroq, taking inspiration from the Vision 7S concept of 2022. The “Tech-Deck Face” replaces the classic Skoda butterfly grille with a sleek black panel that stretches across the front, showcasing segmented LED daytime running lights at each edge.

Positioned on the bumper, the main headlamps, vertical air vents around the lights, and rugged bumper cladding, along with a faux skid plate, lend a stylish yet functional look. The front bumper also includes active cooling vents that adjust automatically to enhance aerodynamics.

The Elroq’s profile embodies Skoda’s characteristic clean lines and smooth surfaces, accompanied by a generous glass area and distinctive multi-spoke wheels. Its rear design resembles a compact version of the Enyaq, highlighted by similar tail lamps, bold “SKODA” lettering on the tailgate, and a dual-tone bumper.

The streamlined surfaces give the Elroq an impressive drag coefficient of 0.26, optimizing its aerodynamic performance. Skoda has also made a bold move by replacing the traditional logo with “SKODA” lettering on both the exterior and steering wheel.

Skoda Elroq EV Interior and Materials

Inside, the Elroq adopts a winged dashboard design similar to that of the Enyaq, featuring a 13-inch central infotainment screen with AC vents below. Physical buttons on the dashboard provide convenient shortcuts for various functions, including ADAS and drive modes.

The steering wheel has been redesigned, complemented by a digital instrument cluster.

Notably, Skoda has prioritized sustainability by using recycled materials in the interior, including PET bottles, fishing nets, and polyester, while offering practical storage options amounting to 48 liters of space and a boot capacity of 470 liters.

Skoda Elroq EV Platform and Dimensions

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the Elroq measures 4.49 meters in length, slightly larger than Skoda’s Karoq but more compact than the Enyaq.

This modular electric platform, shared with models like the Audi Q4 and Volkswagen ID 3, optimizes space and battery efficiency.

Skoda aims to position the Elroq as a balanced midsize SUV that offers a spacious cabin and modern EV features, ideal for urban and intercity travel.

Skoda Elroq EV Battery Options and Performance

The Elroq offers three battery and powertrain options, providing a range of performance levels:

Variant Battery Capacity Power Output Range (WLTP) Charging Speed 0-100 kph Top Speed
50 52 kWh 170 hp 370 km 145 kW
60 59 kWh 204 hp 385 km 145 kW
85 77 kWh 285 hp 560 km 175 kW 6.6 sec 180 kph

Both the 50 and 60 variants can charge from 10-80% in approximately 25 minutes, while the 85 variant, capable of 175 kW charging, completes the same in 28 minutes.

The top-tier 85 version will also offer an AWD option in 2025 with an added motor on the front axle for enhanced performance.

Skoda Elroq EV Expected Pricing and Launch in India

Skoda India plans to introduce the Elroq around 2025-2026, positioning it to compete with models like the Tata Curvv EV and Maruti eVX. With an anticipated price of approximately ₹30 lakh, the Elroq aims to achieve price parity with the ICE-powered Karoq in Europe.

Skoda’s competitive pricing strategy could make Elroq a strong contender in India’s growing EV market. Before its launch, Skoda will debut its flagship Enyaq iV as a full import.
