With an SCTA official World Record of 215.960 mph and a best-timed run of 218.637 mph at Bonneville during Speedweek in August, the Lightning SuperBike became the world’s fastest production electric motorcycle. In addition, the Lightning LS-218 SuperBike holds the world land speed record for the fastest production motorbike, whether electric or not. Not only is it the fastest electric bike on the market, but it is also the fastest bike on the market (period). This record was set entirely with solar power for roughly $.08.

The Lightning LS-218 has a liquid-cooled 150kW IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) motor that produces 203PS and 228Nm of torque. The bike can sprint from 0 to 96 km/h in 2.2 seconds and from 0 to 160 km/h in 5.5 seconds!

Furthermore, depending on the specs, its battery packs have a range of 160km to 290km on a single charge. Essentially, you have three options: 380V 12kWh, 380V 15kWh, or 380V 20kWh, with the latter providing a maximum range of 260-290km on a single charge.

You can use a DC fast charger to charge the battery in 30 minutes or a normal charger (level 2) to charge the battery in 120 minutes. Though the LS-218 appears to be a fantastic Electric Superbike, it also comes at a hefty price.

The pricing of the 12kWh model starts at $38,888 (Rs 28.38 lakh) and rises to $46,888 (Rs 34.22 lakh) for the 20kWh model.
