Final Thoughts

The Sales data for Electric Four Wheelers in the month of May reflects a competitive as well as a maturing market in the country.

The electric four-wheeler market witnessed a change in market dynamics as well as conflict in May 2025, with Tata Motors’s market share falling to 35.4%, whilst JSW MG Motors and Mahindra battled closely to claim market leadership at 30% and 21%.

Once dominated by Tata Motors, the electric four-wheeler segment has undergone a major shift in market dynamics recently.

Even while Tata Motors continues to lead the E4W segment, key players like JSW MG Motors and Mahindra are soon going to close the gap, intensifying the competition further.

With strong demand for electric vehicles, both brands are capitalizing on their launches and experiencing significant growth, catching up with Tata Motors. This is driving the E4W segment towards a much more competitive and dynamic future.

Despite Tata’s longstanding dominance in the segment, its overall sales figures and market share have been recently dropping, falling from a previous high of 61% to almost 35% this May

This shift signals increasing competition from other competitors like JSW MG Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, BYD, Citroen, Hyundai, etc whose consistently improving sales figures and market shares hint at a potentially tighter conflict as the year advances.
