Denza, a subsidiary of the Chinese EV Car manufacturer BYD, recently unveiled its flagship SUV, the N9, at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China. The brand is all geared up to launch the N9 SUV in China in the year 2025. The SUV will be available in both plug-in hybrid and electric variants.
BYD reportedly intends to introduce the N9 SUV in several domestic as well as international markets, not just in China.
The design of the flagship N9 SUV has now been patented in India under the company BYD’s name, raising speculations about whether the company will be launching the vehicle in India.
It is crucial to note that filing a patent does not guarantee that the manufacturer will launch the vehicle in the market. Sometimes, the patents are filed just to ensure the security of the product design.
Dimensions-wise, the Densa N9 SUV measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, 1,830 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
The fully electric version is anticipated to have slight changes in the dimensions and is also expected to come equipped with a much larger battery and a triple motor layout with 952 bhp output.
The electric version of the Denza N9 SUV will be equipped with a larger motor layout, powered by three electric motors producing a combined output of 952 hp.
Exact details of the battery power have not been revealed as of yet. Although, the N9 SUV comes from a 47 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack.
The Denza N9 SUV is anticipated to have an all-electric range of 165 km and a top speed of 230 km per hour.
Interestingly, BYD has not yet revealed the interior of the Denza N9 SUV. The vehicle was displayed at the Guangzhou Show with blacked-out windows. However, it is anticipated that the interior will follow a similar format to its existing portfolio.
The N9 SUV is expected to be launched in China in 2025 at a price of around Rs 59 lakh when converted into Indian currency.
The Denza flagship SUV is equipped with various advanced features. It is expected to have three rows of seats with a 2 + 2 + 3 layout. The second row would feature two independent captain chairs. Its center console would be equipped with a three-screen design layout.
Most notably, it features a 17.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display on the dashboard, a 13.2-inch instrument cluster a 13.2-inch front passenger display, and a 50-inch heads-up display. A 17.1-inch entertainment display is also provided in the ceiling for the rear passengers.
Another feature of the Denza N9 would be a storage box with heating and cooling functions.
Denza is a high-end automobile brand that was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD Auto and Daimler(Mercedes-Benz Group), focused on the development of premium electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Later, Mercedes-Benz sold its holding stake in Denza to BYD, making it the sole owner of the brand in 2024.
BYD currently has three electric vehicles in its Indian portfolio: The eMax7 MPV, the Atto 3, and the Seal EV.
The Chinese EV giant has been receiving a positive response from the Indian market so far and it looks like the brand is now attempting to take advantage of the same by launching new models in the country. It aims to target the premium EV segment with this launch.
