Maruti Suzuki has been working on its first all-electric model, eVX, for quite some time. This model debuted as a concept at the Auto Expo last year.
It has now been confirmed that Maruti Suzuki will unveil the full production-spec version of the eVX at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo, scheduled from January 17 to 22, 2025.
Although the global debut was initially planned for later this year, unforeseen issues delayed the official reveal until January of next year.
Priority Markets and Export Plans
According to a report by Autocar India, a senior executive from Maruti Suzuki, it was confirmed that the eVX will be announced at the Bharat Mobility Expo with a launch planned for early 2025.
While the Indian market is crucial, Europe will be given priority for the eVX launch. Maruti Suzuki has designated India as the mother plant for the eVX, which will also serve as the vehicle’s export hub.
The car is expected to be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s new EV production facility, further cementing India’s role in the global EV supply chain. Apart from Europe, the eVX will also be exported to Japan.

BYD’S Blade Battery to be used
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car eVX is expected to use the BYD’s blade battery. Such batteries tend to give high-tech performance, technology, and a lot more. Maruti also might plan to localize the BYD blade battery in the market.
Maruti Suzuki eVX Expected Price in India
Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to launch with a price range of Rs.18 lakh to 25 lakh. Once launched in India, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will compete against several established players in the electric SUV segment. Key competitors include the
- MG ZS EV – The MG ZS EV starts at Rs ₹18.98 lakh and the top model costs up to ₹25.44 lakh
- Tata Curvv EV- The Curvv EV is priced between ₹ 17.49 Lakh and ₹ 21.99 Lakh.
The competition is expected to be fierce, with each model offering a unique combination of design, features, and range, aiming to capture the growing demand for electric vehicles in India.
Series Production and Annual Output
Maruti Suzuki plans to commence series production of the eVX early next year. Most of the units produced at the Gujarat facility will be limited for exports.
The company has set a target of producing 1.5 lakh units annually, highlighting its ambitious plans to meet global demand for electric vehicles.
The company is also planning to launch an electric car every year until 2031. The next electric car is close behind and will be unveiled soon after the Maruti eVX launch.
International Collaboration with Toyota
As part of its ongoing international alliance, Maruti Suzuki’s eVX will also have a Toyota version, expected to debut a few months after the eVX is launched.
This collaboration follows the pattern seen in previous models where Maruti Suzuki and Toyota shared platforms and technologies.
The Toyota version will likely feature similar specifications but may have unique design elements to differentiate it in the market.
