Kia India is planning to launch its locally produced first electric vehicle, the Carens EV, around mid-2025.
The launch signals Kia’s foray into India’s mass-market electric vehicle segment and its plan to deliver an affordable three-row electric MPV to customers in India.
The latest spy shots from Andhra Pradesh reveal new details about the Clavis EV. Notably, the charging port is positioned at the front center of the vehicle, and an ADAS radar module is also mounted in the same area.
Kia India is set to make its presence felt in the electric vehicle (EV) segment with its upcoming launch of the Carens Clavis Electric. The model is set for release in the third quarter of 2025 and signals Kia’s entry into the mass-market EV segment in India.
Carens Clavis Electric is a 6-7 seater electric vehicle in the sub-₹22 lakh segment and is one of a kind in its category.
The three-row MPV is intended to deliver an economical yet spacious choice for families who are interested in making a switch to electric mobility.
If Kia can load the Carens Clavis Electric with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, it may have an interesting combination of range, safety, and affordability.
With a configuration in place and a market-stimulating price tag, the vehicle can sell 1,000 to 1,500 units per month. A lifetime warranty would make it even more attractive and create a new benchmark in its segment.
The Carens Clavis Electric should have a premium design with contemporary looks and an array of cutting-edge features. These can include an infotainment and instrument cluster dual screen arrangement, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
The safety features are bound to include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear and front parking sensors, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the form of adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning.
With the introduction of Carens Clavis Electric, Kia India is poised to transform the mass-market EV segment by providing an unprecedented blend of affordability, roominess, and feature-packed offerings.
The move not only fills the void in the electric MPV segment but also caters to the rising need for sustainable and family-centric transport in India.
