This innovative bus can be fully charged in just 15 minutes, a feat made possible by Exponent Energy’s cutting-edge 1-megawatt charging technology.
“It’s equipped with Exponent’s 320 kWh battery pack enabling a virtually unlimited range with 15-minute rapid charging on the go via Exponent’s 1MW charging network. Additionally, a battery warranty of 6,00,000 km or 3000 battery life cycles, paves the way for better financing options and ease of ownership,” The company said.Â
Highlights:
- Â 320kWh LFP Pack (420kWh in gen2)
- Off-board cooling for charging
- 1MW charger for quick charge
- 13.5m length
- 6 lakh km warranty
- Firstly on the Bangalore – Hyderabad Route with two chargers on the route
The introduction of this rapid-charging electric bus marks a significant milestone for India’s EV sector. It showcases the country’s growing capabilities in designing, engineering, and manufacturing advanced electric vehicles.
Exponent Energy’s 1-megawatt charging technology, one of only three such installations globally (alongside Tesla and Siemens), is a testament to India’s technological prowess.
Arun Vinayak (Founder & CEO of Exponent Energy) posted on X, he said “Specs aside: high power chargers don’t mean much without a battery to accept all that power. We’ve designed a 320Kwh pack at 650V that can charge up in 15 mins – leveraging the same BMS and software tech from our 3W battery. So any cell, any size, any voltage and any number of wheels.”Â
This introduction of the world’s fastest-charging electric bus is a big step towards changing the perception of Indian EV innovation.
While the country has primarily focused on two-wheelers and four-wheelers, this development shows India’s potential to compete at the highest level in the electric vehicle market.
