A World EV Day milestone bringing 24/7, green-powered fast charging to one of India’s busiest travel hubs
World EV Day 2025 marked a historic step in India’s electric mobility journey as Tata Power, the country’s largest integrated power company, and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), India’s leading EV manufacturer, inaugurated the nation’s largest TATA.ev MegaCharger hub in Mumbai.
This is the first co-branded premium EV fast-charging hub from Tata Power and TPEM, strategically located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, within the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel.
The location ensures seamless access for:
Private EV owners
Taxi and ride-hailing fleets
Logistics operators
Frequent flyers, business travelers, and tourists in the busy Andheri–BKC–South Mumbai corridor
16 charging bays powered by 8 high-speed DC chargers (up to 120 kW)
Simultaneous charging for 16 EVs – reducing wait times even during peak hours
100% renewable energy powered, reinforcing Tata’s sustainability vision
24/7 availability, ensuring round-the-clock convenience
This hub adds to 1,000+ green charging points already active in Mumbai, strengthening Tata Power’s position as the backbone of India’s EV charging network.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, emphasized the broader vision:
“Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, this hub sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains committed to accelerating India’s green mobility transition.”
Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & TPEM, highlighted the ecosystem approach:
“Our partnership with Tata Power has been instrumental in incubating and scaling India’s EV charging ecosystem. This MegaCharger is just the beginning of a series of joint initiatives that will empower EV owners with reliable, fast, and widespread charging solutions.”
The hub is open to all EV users, but TATA.ev customers enjoy added benefits:
Priority access to chargers
Up to 25% discount on charging
Seamless integration via Tata Power EZ Charge App (4 lakh users) and soon, the iRA.ev connected car app
With over:
5,500+ public & captive charging points
1.4 lakh+ home chargers
1,200+ bus charging points across 630+ cities
…Tata Power has created India’s most widespread EV charging network. By 2030, the company aims to scale to:
7.5 lakh home chargers
10,000+ public charging points
This ambition aligns with its ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ movement, embedding green mobility into everyday life for millions of Indians.
The Mumbai MegaCharger hub isn’t just a charging station—it’s a symbol of India’s transition to clean, accessible, and future-ready mobility. By combining green energy, advanced fast-charging tech, and customer-first features, Tata Power and TPEM are setting a new gold standard for EV infrastructure in the country.
