- Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ather Energy to collaborate on the development and supply of Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) lithium-ion cells. These advanced chemistry cells will be produced locally at Amara Raja’s upcoming Gigafactory in Divitipally, Telangana.
- Additionally, the company has agreed with Gotion-InoBat-Batteries (GIB) to localize global LFP technology, tailoring it specifically for Indian conditions.
- In another strategic move, Amara Raja has signed an MoU with Italian manufacturer Piaggio India to supply LFP lithium-ion cells and chargers for their electric three-wheelers. This collaboration also involves the development of battery packs and cells for Piaggio’s upcoming two-wheeler models.
- Furthermore, Amara Raja has an agreement with Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co. to bring NMC technology to India, strengthening its position in the domestic market.

It has nine manufacturing plants located in Haryana, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
Together, these manufacturing plants produce an annual output of 8 Million Units of Automobile batteries (including batteries for motorcycle applications), and over 600 million Ampere-Hours of Industrial Power.

- Exide Industries is on track to complete the construction of the first phase of its lithium-ion cell manufacturing project in Bengaluru by the end of this financial year (FY25). Exide embarked on the journey to set up the facility in 2021.
