Tata Motors recently showcased the production ready model of the highly anticipated Tata Harrier EV at its Tata.ev Day Event in Pune, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s journey to expand its EV portfolio in the country.
The Tata Harrier EV is a premium electric SUV offering from the brand, a great blend of advanced technology, extensive range and modern EV design with the robust looks of the popular ICE Harrier.
Although an official launch date for the Tata Harrier EV has not been announced yet, it will most likely be launched soon in India this month, in March 2025.
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to have an estimated starting price of ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a premium yet affordable electric SUV.
When launched, it will compete with rivals like the Mahindra XEV 9e, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, and others in the midsize SUV segment.
This platform currently underpins the Curvv EV and will underpin the brand’s future lineup as well.
On the other hand, the Tata Harrier ICE version was based on the brand’s OMEGA architecture, which is a re-engineered version of the Land Rover D8 platform.
The Gen 2 Acti.EV dedicated electric vehicle platform is designed to accommodate both all-wheel-drive (AWD) and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) options.
This makes it possible to incorporate a dual-motor setup for the Tata Harrier EV, offering an AWD system with the motors powering the front and rear axle, respectively. This setup not only provides better stability but also improves control across different terrains. The multi-link rear suspension is another great addition to the Harrier EV, which is expected to enhance both ride comfort and handling.
Tata Motors has not yet unveiled the battery specifications of the Harrier EV. However, it is expected to have a high capacity powerful battery with its capacity ranging from 60 kWh to 75 kWh approx, offering an extended range of more than 500 kilometres on a full charge.
The Tata Harrier EV is a mix of the robust design of the ICE Harrier with modern EV technology. It retains the signature silhouette, dimensions, and most of the design elements of the ICE Harrier model.
On the other hand, it incorporates a new sleek and minimalist design for the EV model. The Harrier EV features a closed-off grille, modified bumper with vertical slats and LED DRL lights, providing a sleek front fascia. Meanwhile, the redesigned rear bumper and connected LED tail lights offers a sleek and distinctive look from the ICE model.
The Tata Harrier EV is going to be a feature-rich electric SUV from the brand, one of which is the summon mode. This feature allows users to move the car forward or backward using the key fob for increased convenience.
It will also be equipped with features like a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, powered front seats with ventilation, 12.3 inch infotainment setup, a digital driver’s display, JBL premium sound system, dual-zone automatic AC, wireless charging, and many more advanced features.
In terms of charging, the Harrier EV will support fast charging infrastructure and come equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities as well for enhanced performance and practicality.
Additionally, the Tata Harrier EV will come equipped with safety features like ADAS system, driver doze off feature, hill descent control, seven airbags, 360-degree HD camera, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, parking sensors, etc.
Final thoughts
With an impressive range, fast charging capabilities, advanced tech and safety features, Tata Motors is all set to redefine the electric SUV segment with the upcoming launch of the Tata Harrier EV.
In conclusion, the brand is gearing up to strengthen its presence and significantly contribute to the growth of electric mobility in 2025 in the Indian EV market with this launch.
