Tata Harrier EV AWD

Tata Motors is electrifying the Indian SUV market with the launch of a game-changing variant of its Harrier EV—now available with an all‑wheel‑drive (AWD) configuration featuring a dual‑motor setup.

Official first impressions were shared this week “TATA Harrier EV AWD Review – India’s Most Powerful Electric SUV?” by automotive expert Gagan Choudhary in a detailed video review on his YouTube channel.

Tata Harrier EV AWD Powertrain & Performance

According to Choudhary, the AWD Harrier EV delivers an impressive boost over its front‑wheel‑drive counterpart.

“The twin‑motor layout provides strong torque delivery to both axles,” he notes, resulting in quicker acceleration and improved traction, especially useful in low‑grip conditions or when carrying cargo or passengers.

Tata Harrier EV Has Dual-motor AWD (158 PS front + 238 PS rear) that delivers 396 PS and a punch from 0–100 km/h in 6.3 s.

Handling & Driving Experience

Beyond straight‑line speed, the AWD system enriches handling dynamics.

During testing, the Harrier EV showcased stable cornering and a composed ride, thanks to optimized weight distribution and responsive power delivery.

Gagan Choudhary emphasised that this makes it an ideal companion for India’s diverse driving environments, ranging from slick city roads to hilly terrain.

Battery & Range Implications

While Tata Motors has not released official figures, Choudhary suggests the addition of a second motor could have a marginal impact on driving range due to increased energy consumption.

Nevertheless, he believes Tata has likely calibrated the battery and motor controls to maintain a competitive range, especially under mixed or urban driving conditions.

Features & Equipment

The AWD model does not skimp on comfort or technology.

It maintains the Harrier EV’s suite of advanced features: a modern infotainment system, multiple drive modes (including AWD-specific traction settings), and a host of driver-assist systems—continuing Tata’s trend of offering premium features at accessible price points. R

Market Position & Competition

The AWD Harrier EV enters a relatively untapped segment in India: full-electric SUVs with all‑wheel drive.

Consumers currently considering imported EVs with AWD will now find a robust, locally engineered contender.

This strengthens Tata’s portfolio and solidifies its standing in the emerging EV space.

Tata Motors is expected to provide official specifications—such as power output, battery capacity, driving range, and pricing—within the next few weeks. With this dual‑motor model, the Harrier EV sets the stage for a new era of high-performance electric SUVs in India.

Expert Verdict by Gagan Choudhary

Choudhary gives the  Tata Harrier EV AWD a thumbs-up for its heightened performance, driving poise, and smart deployment of AWD technology, one tailored for Indian road conditions.

While final range specs and pricing are still pending, he predicts that this model will resonate strongly with SUV enthusiasts seeking added control without sacrificing eco-friendly credentials.
