TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd, a venture of Murugappa Group and a subsidiary of TI Clean Mobility, is gearing up to debut its first-ever electric four-wheeler small commercial vehicle under the “Montra Electric” brand name in the upcoming months, as seen in recent spy shots.
The automotive sector’s electrification is on the rise domestically and globally, and more consumers are inclined to adopt electric vehicles than ever before.
The Indian Small Commercial Vehicles segment (SCV) is also quite a part of this shift.
Like the rest of the world, the Indian SCV industry is also gearing up for its electrification. This sub-segment of the Indian EV industry is witnessing the fastest transition to e-mobility.
Montra Electric Electric e-SCV Test Mule Spotted
Some spy shots have recently surfaced online showing a mule of the much anticipated Montra Electric e-SCV in the testing phase.
The test vehicle featured a red-tinted number plate registered in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Though mostly camouflaged, the test mule appears almost production-ready, larger than the rest of the currently available models in the SCV category.
As seen in recent spy shots, its design stands out from the rest, with a modern design and a robust construction.
With its cutting-edge technology, unique design, and powerful and sturdy performance, the electric model is anticipated to significantly change the mid and last-mile mobility sectors in India whenever introduced.
Other information
Montra Electric is all set to revolutionize the electric automotive segment with the launch of this product offering. The company had previously stated that the development of this electric SCV would require a significant amount of research and extensive testing.
The electric SCV appears to be nearing production and its official launch could not be far off. Detailed specifications of the performance, pricing, and other technical aspects are likely to be revealed soon, positioning Montra Electric’s new model as a key competitor in the electric SCV market.
Whenever introduced in the electric small commercial vehicle segment, the Montra Electric would compete with major players like Tata Motors, Switch Mobility, etc.
Foray Into The Segment
Tamilnadu-based EV automaker TI Clean Mobility, part of the diversified conglomerate Murugappa Group unveiled the brand “Montra Electric” in the year 2022.
Montra Electric marked its foray into the electric industry in February 2022. It will mark its foray into the electric four-wheeler small commercial vehicle segment next year with the launch of this electric SCV, widening its product portfolio as well.
Aim
TI Clean Mobility’s (TICMPL) main focus is on clean mobility solutions.
With the launch of the electric SCV, the brand aims to deliver practical, sustainable as well as comprehensive mobility solutions to customers. They also aim to significantly change in India’s mid-mile and last-mile mobility sectors.
This also helps them to make a significant environmental impact as well as contribute to the global push for carbon neutrality. They aim to significantly impact India’s effort to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2070.
With the introduction of this electric SCV as its fourth EV platform, the brand has now positioned itself to offer complete mobility solutions to enterprises and logistics companies, serving their needs across intra as well inter city and last-mile applications.
“Currently, we are developing four platforms. What excites me the most is our upcoming small commercial vehicle platform,” TII Executive Vice Chairman Vellayan Subbiah said.
He added, “SCV represents the largest category in the commercial vehicle segment, making our entry into this arena particularly thrilling. This segment is primed to adopt EVs swiftly, supported by policies, government initiatives, and increasing adoption rates.”
Final thoughts
After launching successful models like the Electric (MHCV) truck and Electric three-wheeler, the brand is now concentrating on the Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) platform, anticipating quick electric vehicle adoption.
The TIVOLT electric SCV is well positioned to dominate the segment once launched, all thanks to encouraging regulations and increasing government assistance.
