MG Motor India has introduced the new Windsor EV Pro, a top-spec variant of its existing electric SUV lineup. This model adds a larger battery and several upgrades over the standard Windsor EV.
Key enhancements include a 52.9 kWh LFP battery (up from 38.0 kWh) for a claimed 449 km range while retaining the same 136 hp (∼100 kW) motor and 200 Nm torque.
Charging hardware has been upgraded to a 7.4 kW onboard AC charger (≈9.5 h for full charge) and support for 60 kW DC fast charging (20–80% in about 50 minutes).
Battery & Range: 52.9 kWh LFP pack with ~449 km (ARAI-rated) range (vs. ~331 km with the 38 kWh pack).
Powertrain: Front-wheel-drive; motor unchanged at ~136 hp and 200 Nm.
Charging: 7.4 kW AC (≈9.5 h full) and 60 kW DC fast charge (20–80% in ~50 min).
Design & Interior: New dual-tone 18″ alloy wheels, three new colours (Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red). Lighter (beige/Ivory) cabin trim replaces black, with ventilated front seats and faux-wood accents.
Technology: 15.6″ touchscreen and 8.8″ digital driver display, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 9-speaker Infinity audio, wireless charging and connected-car tech. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) power transfer capability is also added.
Safety/ADAS: Level-2 ADAS suite including adaptive cruise control and traffic-jam assist. Safety gear includes six airbags, ESC, hill-start/descent control, auto-hold parking brake, TPMS, rear parking sensors and a 360° camera. A powered tailgate is also a new standard.
Pricing: Launched at ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 8,000 buyers. Under MG’s Battery-as-a-Service plan, the body price is ₹12.49 lakh (battery leased). Bookings began in early May 2025.
The Windsor EV Pro’s headline change is a 52.9 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, replacing the previous 38.0 kWh unit. This upsized pack is rated for 449 km of range on a single charge. By comparison, the standard Windsor EV’s 38.0 kWh battery has an ARAI range of about 331 km.
In real-world conditions, the old model managed roughly 308 km in testing, so the EV Pro is expected to exceed that mark thanks to its higher capacity. First buyers will also receive a lifetime warranty on the new battery.
The electric motor and drive layout remains the same as before. The EV Pro uses a front-mounted electric motor producing roughly 136 hp (≈100 kW) and 200 Nm of torque.
With the larger battery, total system performance is unchanged but sustained range is significantly improved.
The charging system includes a 7.4 kW onboard AC charger (suitable for home or slow public charging) that takes about 9.5 hours to fully recharge the battery from empty. Fast charging support is rated at 60 kW DC, allowing a 20–80% charge in around 50 minutes.
Efficiency should be in the order of 8–9 km per kWh, as previously observed in testing.
Visually, the EV Pro retains the Windsor’s existing styling.
The only exterior change is a new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheel design, along with three fresh paint options: Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red. Interior upgrades include a lighter beige/Ivory color theme (replacing the older black trim), with faux-wood trim on the dash and ventilated front seats for added comfort.
A powered tailgate has been added for convenience. Other existing features like the panoramic glass roof and 135° reclining rear seats carry over from the standard model.
On the tech front, the Windsor EV Pro comes with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
The system offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, along with a wireless smartphone charging pad.
A high-end 9-speaker Infinity audio system provides cabin entertainment. The vehicle is equipped with connected-car features for smartphone integration (remote monitoring, OTA updates etc.).
New in this model are vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) power delivery modes, allowing the car’s battery to power external devices or charge compatible EVs.
The Windsor EV Pro introduces a Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), as indicated by an “ADAS” badge on the tailgate. This suite includes features like adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist, which were not available on the earlier model.
Traditional safety equipment remains comprehensive: six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start and hill-descent control, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, tire-pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors and a 360° surround-view camera.
These features combine with the new ADAS aids to enhance occupant safety and driving convenience.
The Windsor EV Pro is positioned as the new flagship variant (the Essence Pro trim) above the existing Windsor EV Excite, Exclusive and Essence models. It went on sale in May 2025 at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹17.49 lakh.
MG Motor India also offers it under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription scheme: with the battery rented, the starting on-road price is about ₹12.49 lakh (excluding battery cost). Bookings opened on May 8, 2025.
The enhanced range, larger battery and upgraded tech features aim to keep the Windsor EV Pro competitive against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV in India’s growing electric SUV market.
