MG Windsor EV Among Best-Selling Electric Cars

JSW MG Motor India’s Windsor EV has solidified its position as a leader in India’s electric vehicle market, surpassing 27,000 units sold since its launch in September 2024.

MG Sold Windsor EV Pro 27,000 units in Just 8 Months and became India’s best-selling electric car in the market. This electric car has beaten big names like Tata Nexon EV and Tata Punch EV to become India’s number-one electric car for many months.

This milestone highlights the electric car’s strong appeal, driven by its stylish design, 38 kWh battery offering a 331 km range, and competitive pricing starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) with the Battery-as-a-Service option.

The MG Windsor EV has consistently outperformed rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Punch EV, maintaining its status as India’s best-selling electric car for several months.

The recent launch of the Windsor EV Pro, featuring a 52.9 kWh battery with a 449 km range, has further boosted its popularity, securing over 8,000 bookings in just 24 hours.

  • January 2025: 3,277 units

  • March 2025: 3,641 units

  • April 2025: 3,312 units (estimated based on trends)

  • Total till June 2025: Over 27,000 units!

“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the Windsor EV,” said Rakesh Sen, Head of Sales, JSW MG Motor India. “This achievement reflects our commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable mobility solutions for Indian consumers.”

Every month, it sells more than 3,000 cars, which is amazing for an electric vehicle (EV) in India. In just nine months, it surpassed 27,000 sales, demonstrating the overwhelming love for it. The new Windsor EV Pro, launched later, got over 8,000 bookings in just one day – that’s how crazy the demand is!

Variants and Battery Options

The Windsor EV comes in three main types:

  1. Excite – Basic model with good features.

  2. Exclusive – Mid-level with extra comfort.

  3. Essence – Top model with all the bells and whistles.

Then there’s the Windsor EV Pro, which features a larger battery and offers greater range. Here’s the difference:

  • Regular Windsor EV: 38 kWh battery, 331 km range.

  • Windsor EV Pro: 52.9 kWh battery, 449 km range.

This means the Pro can take you from Delhi to Agra and back without charging – perfect for long drives!

MG Windsor EV Performance: Power and Features

The Windsor EV is not just about looks – it performs great too. Here’s what makes it special:

  • Motor Power: 134 horsepower, so it’s quick and smooth.

  • Speed: Goes from 0 to 100 kmph in about 10 seconds.

  • Range: 331 km (regular) or 449 km (Pro) on one full charge.

  • Charging: Takes 6-8 hours with a home charger, or 40 minutes for 80% with a fast charger.

It also has cool features like:

  • 15.6-inch Touchscreen: Big screen for music, maps, and more.

  • Level 2 ADAS: Helps with safe driving – it can brake or steer a little if there’s danger.

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Use the car’s battery to power things like a fan or laptop.

With advanced features like a 15.6-inch touchscreen, Level 2 ADAS, and Vehicle-to-Load capability, the Windsor EV continues to set benchmarks in the electric SUV segment, inching closer to the 30,000 sales mark.
