Marking a significant shift in the Indian electric SUV landscape, Mahindra has revealed its plans to redefine the segment with its Electric Origin lineup.
Starting with the successful launch of the BE 6e and XEV 9e, the company has firmly established its commitment to electric mobility.
The lineup is now set to expand with the introduction of the XEV 7e, an electrified version of the popular XUV700.
Recently leaked images of the XEV 7e have provided exciting insights into its design and capabilities, building anticipation for its official debut.
Mahindra XEV 7e Leaked Details
The leaked visuals reveal that the XEV 7e will closely resemble the XEV 9e in terms of features and technology but stand apart with its non-coupe design and inclusion of a third-row seating option.
This feature gives the XEV 7e a competitive edge as it caters to larger families and group travel needs. While it shares the sleek front fascia and interior dashboard layout of the XEV 9e, the side profile and rear design are reminiscent of the ICE-powered XUV700.
The SUV is also expected to feature an exclusive panoramic sunroof, which will distinguish it within Mahindra’s Electric Origin range.
Trademark and Launch Strategy
Mahindra has trademarked the name “XEV 7e” alongside the “XEV 9e,” indicating its intent to expand the XEV sub-brand. Despite initial expectations that the XEV 7e would launch alongside the BE 6e and XEV 9e, Mahindra seems to be pacing its releases strategically.
This approach could be aimed at maintaining consumer interest over time, leveraging the strong market reception for its earlier models.
Interior Features
Inside the XEV 7e, the layout seems to be similar to the XEV 9e, offering a triple-screen configuration, a modern steering wheel with an illuminated logo, and premium features such as a 1400W Harman Kardon audio system, ambient lighting, and Level-2+ ADAS capabilities, EPB, TPMS, power front seats with memory function, powered tailgate, drive modes, etc.
The second-row captain chairs and optional third-row seating set the XEV 7e apart, catering to diverse user preferences. The inclusion of a powered tailgate and VisionX HUD ensures a tech-rich, user-friendly experience.
Expected Powertrain Details
One of the highlights of the XEV 7e is its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, a feature absent in the BE 6e and XEV 9e. This setup is expected to deliver over 350 bhp and 450 Nm of torque, enabling superior acceleration and off-road performance.
The SUV will include traction modes such as “Snow,” enhancing its versatility across terrains.
