The new range of Mahindra electric SUVs will be underpinned by the in-house developed platform called INGLO. Its name is a combination of the brand’s foundation and its vision- IN for India and GLO for Global.
It can underpin different models of many sizes for various segments. It is scalable in terms of wheelbase, length, and width. That’s how it will be able to underpin everything from XEV 9E to the BE 6E.
It supports battery packs of two different capacities – 60kWh and 80kWh. The battery design uses two different architectures -‘Blade’ for the larger version and ‘Prismatic’ for the smaller one. These batteries can handle fast charging capabilities of up to 175kW for charging up to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.
It will also get the choice of rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive powertrains. It features a single-unit design that combines the motor, inverter, transmission, and everything else into one package.
The electrical architecture of INGLO-based EVs also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. It optimizes battery capacity and allows one to use the energy stored in the car’s battery pack to power other electronic items.
The Mahindra XEV 9E is anticipated to have a starting price of Rs 38 lakh, while the BE 6E could start from a price of Rs 24 lakh. The XEV 9E will compete with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV, whilst the BE 6E shall compete with the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, etc.
