Originally confirmed for a 2024 release by Kia, the EV9 is now set to launch during the festive season, likely in early October. The expected date for the launch of Kia EV6 is October 3. Deliveries are expected to commence post-Diwali.
The launch of the Kia EV9 will mark the launch of Kia’s second fully-electric vehicle after the EV6 and their first-ever three-row electric SUV.
Kia India initially plans to introduce the all-wheel-drive EV9 GT-Line as the sole variant. This release will coincide with the debut of the next-generation Carnival MPV. Both models were showcased in India earlier this year at the 2023 Auto Expo, drawing considerable attention from car enthusiasts and industry insiders alike.
The EV9 and the new Carnival will be brought to the Indian market as Completely Built Units (CBUs). However, the Carnival may later be assembled locally within India.
The EV9 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), shared across other Hyundai and Kia models, such as the popular Kia EV6.
