The electric two-wheeler segment is growing significantly this year and gaining every manufacturer’s attention. That being said, Hero Motocorp is no exception and is all set to expand its EV portfolio in the country.
Hero Motocorp Owned Vida Worlds recently released a teaser of its upcoming Vida VX2 electric scooter online on their social media. The teaser describes that the Vida VX2 scheduled to be unveiled early next month is not just not another electric scooter but an EVooter.
The teaser also suggests that the VX2 takes design inspiration from the Vida Z concept, while also incorporating sleek lighting and a stylish look quite similar to the V2 series.
It is expected to feature a great mix of futuristic styling and practicality, combining design innovation with practical elements to appeal to a wider range of consumers.
Hero MotoCorp is all geared up to launch the Vida VX2 electric scooter early next month on July 1, positioning it as a more affordable option to the current Vida V2 series.
The upcoming model Hero Vida VX2, based on the Vida Z, is anticipated to be priced below the Vida V2 series, which currently retails between Rs 74,000 to Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Positioned directly below the V2 series, the company aims to attract a wider range of audience with the more affordable price point of the Vida VX2.
The Vida VX2 is expected to have an estimated starting price of ₹65,000 (ex-showroom), making it a premium yet affordable electric scooter option.
Ahead of its official launch and teaser release, the Vida VX2 electric scooter was spotted entirely un-camouflaged at a dealership, offering a clear and detailed first look at the electric scooter.
The Vida VX2 sported a clean and sleek design in a matte yellow colour and carried a ‘VX Plus’ badge, once again suggesting the possibility of multiple trim levels.
The electric scooter featured a black grab rail and backlight design similar to the V2 series, incorporating its sleek and stylish design language.
Additionally, it also featured a switchgear along with a joystick-type controller on the left carried over from the V2 lineup.
The electric scooter was equipped with a smaller TFT touch-based display offering navigation, bluetooth connectivity and access to important information about the health of the scooter.
The Vida VX2 also included additional features like the SOS button and a compact storage unit. A joystick was also present on the handlebar as mentioned earlier, allowing the rider to navigate through the on-screen controls easily.
Unlike keyless ignition system setups in their premium V2 models, the presence of a physical keyhole further highlighted that the VX2 scooter will be positioned as a more affordable electric offering than the current lineup.
While detailed information about the powertrain and features remain undisclosed, the Vida VX2 is expected to be offered with multiple battery pack variants. Hero MotoCorp had earlier filed trademarks for the names Vida VX2, VX2 Pro, and VX2 Plus as well, indicating that the upcoming lineup may be offered in 3 different variants.
The company had previously confirmed that the Vida Z will be built on a modular architecture supporting battery packs from 2.2kWh to 4.4kWh and will also be powered by a permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motor.
While detailed specifications about the Vida VX2 are yet to be revealed, the electric scooter is expected to feature the above specs along with removable batteries, touchscreen TFT display, LED lighting, smartphone connectivity and other advanced features.
Looks like Hero MotoCorp is poised to capitalize on the rapidly growing electric mobility segment in the country with the launch of the Vida VX2. While the teaser has stirred curiosity amongst enthusiasts, all eyes are now on the official launch in the coming weeks.
Hero Motocorp aims to achieve an overall sales volume of more than half a million units annually by the year 2027, with its electric scooter line-up contributing over 3.6 lakh units per annum.
Hero Motocorp is also working on developing a new platform ‘ACPD’, focusing on affordability, cost-effectiveness and performance. This is aimed at making Vida electric scooters more efficient, performance and competitively priced.
