Ola Gig and S1Z Scooter will be the first to feature 4680 Bharat cellOla Electric is making headlines again, with CEO Bhavish Aggarwal recently announcing that the Ola Gig and S1 Z scooters will be the first to feature the revolutionary Bharat 4680 cell. The Bharat 4680 Cell will be operational from April 2025.

This groundbreaking development is poised to transform the electric mobility landscape, marking a significant leap in India’s EV journey.

Details of the Bharat 4680 Cell

The Indigenous Bharat Cell 4680 was unveiled by Ola Electric a few months ago. The Bharat 4680 cell is a technological marvel, boasting five times the energy density (275 Wh/kg) of conventional 2170 Li-ion cells.

Its advanced design offers 1.5 times faster charging and a 10% increase in range, ensuring enhanced efficiency for EV users.

Its wide operating temperature range (10°C to 70°C) and exceptional longevity, with over 1,000 charge cycles, truly sets this innovation apart. Charging is also more convenient, with 50% capacity achievable in just 13 minutes

.

This cell, developed with over 70 patents, symbolizes Ola’s effort toward battery self-reliance, aligning perfectly with the government’s “Make in India” initiative.

Its integration into recently launched Ola scooters, starting April 2025, will pave the way for advanced, locally manufactured EV batteries.
