A recent report has revealed Hero MotoCorp’s ambitious plans to expand its EV portfolio in India, incorporating a diverse range of products, from affordable electric motorcycles to electric dirt bikes and premium electric motorcycles.
It is reportedly gearing up to launch half a dozen new vehicles, including its first electric mass-market bike for the Indian market in the coming two to three years.
Hero MotoCorp is also reportedly developing an electric variant of its iconic Splendor bike, under the codename AEDA.
The Hero Splendor Electric is the brand’s most significant and ambitious project, which has been under development for over two years at their technology centre in Jaipur.
The reason is that the ICE Hero Splendor has been one of the best sellers in India for years, so it’s only logical for the brand to offer the electric iteration of the iconic bike to capitalize on its popularity.
While an official launch date hasn’t been revealed yet, it is scheduled to be launched in the year 2027.
As of now, detailed specifications are not available for the electric bike but it is anticipated that its performance would be on par with the segment standards, if not on par with its ICE version.
The electric bike can be anticipated to feature a design similar to its ICE version in regards to its stylishness.
Thus, the overall specs and look can be expected to be on par with the ice version and segment standards.
Apart from the Splendor Electric, Hero MotoCorp is also planning on introducing two additional 150cc and 250cc premium bikes under the code name ADZA in the upcoming year and an electric dirt bike, the Vida Lynx in 2026.
Hero Motocorp aims to achieve an overall sales volume of more than half a million units annually by the year 2027, with its electric bike line-up contributing over 2.5 lakh units per annum.
In conclusion, the brand has an ambitious EV expansion plan and is preparing to introduce several electric vehicles in the upcoming years. Hero MotoCorp aims to establish a strong presence in the electric bike space as well with all these efforts.
