According to Vahan Data, retail sales touched 1,03,802 units in August 2025, a sharp recovery from July’s 1,00,989 units.
Despite ups and downs across individual brands, the overall YoY performance remains strong, and competition at the top is intensifying.
The top three OEMs—TVS Motors, Ola Electric, and Ather Energy collectively contributed nearly 59% of total EV sales this month, underscoring their market dominance.
TVS Motors led the pack with 24,087 units in August, showing a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 8.35% compared to 22,230 units in July.
Ola Electric followed with 18,972 units, growing 6.30% MoM over July’s 17,848 units.
Ather Energy continued its upward trend, selling 17,856 units, reflecting 10.01% MoM growth versus 16,231 units in July.
Hero MotoCorp posted 13,313 units, marking a robust 26.92% growth from 10,489 in July.
Bajaj Auto slipped down the order with 11,730 units, a steep 40.31% decline from July’s 19,650 units.
This reshuffling highlights shifting consumer preferences and increasing pressure on legacy players to sustain their lead.

TVS Motors retained its leadership in August with 24,087 units, up from 22,230 in July (+8.35%).
With a market share of 23.09%, the TVS iQube continues to be among India’s best-selling electric scooters.
Ola Electric sold 18,972 units in August, growing 6.30% MoM over July.
The brand continues to leverage its direct-to-consumer model and tier-1 dominance, but faces mounting pressure from Ather.
Ather Energy recorded 17,856 units in August, posting a healthy 10.01% MoM growth.
With increasing demand in urban markets, Ather is narrowing the gap with Ola Electric.
The success of the Vida lineup and Hero’s extensive distribution give it strong growth potential going forward.
While the Bajaj Chetak remains popular, the decline signals tougher competition from Hero and Ather.
Greaves Electric grew to 4,498 units in August (+7.16% MoM).
With its focus on affordability, it maintains traction in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Pure Energy reported 1,779 units in August, an increase of 5.39% MoM.
The brand’s cost-effective offerings are driving adoption in South India.
Bgauss registered 1,720 units, up 7.97% MoM from July.
The brand continues to strengthen its network and customer base.
River Mobility posted 1,657 units in August, a 9.22% growth over July.
The startup is gradually carving a space with urban-focused designs.
Kinetic Green climbed further with 1,513 units, recording a 23.41% MoM growth.
Its presence in semi-urban markets has been a key driver of sales momentum.
August 2025 marked a strong rebound for India’s electric two-wheeler industry, led by TVS, Ola, and Ather, with Hero MotoCorp climbing aggressively.
Bajaj’s decline, however, is a reminder of how volatile the EV market can be.
As the festive season approaches and new launches arrive, the competition is set to get fiercer, reshaping the EV leaderboard even further.
Hero MotoCorp showed the strongest growth at +26.92% MoM, followed by Ather Energy at +10.01% and TVS Motors at +8.35%.
