Tesla Roadster
Tesla has released the research and development document for its Roadster model as open source. This may be a great interest for EV enthusiasts and engineers to understand the design of Roadster more closely. The released document has design specifications and related codes for Battery Monitoring Board, HVAC Controller, Vehicle Display System, and Diagnostic Software. It was created during the design phase of the Roadster for research and development. Tesla also has four more models named Model S, Model 3, Model Y and Model X.
Roadster is a four seater sports car launched by Tesla in 2008. The next-gen Tesla Roadster may go in production by the end of 2024. The new Roadster may have the optional ‘SpaceX package,’ which includes cold air thrusters around the car to improve top speed, braking, and cornering.Tesla will likely offer Autopilot as standard and Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self Driving (FSD) as options in the next-gen Roadster.
The other specifications of new Roadster are:
Acceleration 0-60 mph | 1.9s | Acceleration 0-100 mph | 4.2s |
Top Speed | Over 250 mph | Mile Range | 620 miles (1000 km) |
Drive | All-Wheel Drive | Base Reservation price | $50,000 |
The released documents are used for the design and development of first-gen Roadster. The documents have circuit diagram for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and code on GitHub.
However, Tesla has declared the released document does not serve as a manufacturer reference or provide information on repair and maintenance. Therefore, it may not provide an accurate representation of the actual production models or parts available for sale. The document can be accessed on Tesla official website
All design & engineering of the original @Tesla Roadster is now fully open source.
