Tesla Model S and Model X “Standard Range” Version
Tesla has launched the Standard Range of its flagship Model S sedan and Model X SUV. They will be now available at affordable prices and with a shorter driving range in the USA, as Tesla targets to increase sales as high costs hamper demand for expensive electric vehicles.
Tesla had already slashed the prices of its vehicles in the USA, China, and other markets prioritizing sales increase over profit margins.
Tesla has slashed the prices by $10,000 amidst high competition in the EV Industry. It is focusing on lowering costs to prioritize sales growth. The Model S Standard Range and Model X Standard Range provide a lower entry point for both the flagship EVS.
The introduction of the Model S and Model X Standard Range was spotted on Tesla’s official online website.
Prices
On it’s official website, the Model S Standard Range is now available at a starting price of $78,490 while the Model X Standard Range is available at a starting price of $88,490.
Range
The Model S Standard Range features a range of 320 miles per charge and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. It also features a top speed of 149 miles per hour.
The Tesla Model X Standard Range features a range of 269 miles per charge and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. It also features a to speed of 149 miles per hour.
Other Changes
Both the Model S and Model X will have the same battery pack as the Long Range variant but with its capacity being software locked. Tesla had previously given owners access to unlock the capacity in the future through a software update with a premium. But it hasn’t given any details about unlocking the capacity of the Standard Range as of now.
Final Words
The launch of the Standard Range is Tesla’s move on focusing on cost reduction, new product development that will enable future growth, investments in R&D, better vehicle financing options and continuous product improvement.
