Hyundai Electric Pickup Truck
Jaehoon Chang, the CEO of Hyundai, recently disclosed that the company will soon release a new electric pickup truck. The next-generation EV platform Hyundai has developed will enable them to produce EVs in all categories, including pickup trucks, for the new electric pickup.
Jaehoon Chang, CEO of Hyundai, regarding the next-generation EV platform “It encompasses nearly all vehicle classes, ranging from small and large SUVs to pickup, along with the flagship models of the Genesis brand.”
As a compact-sized electric truck, the upcoming Hyundai model will compete primarily with other compact-sized pickup trucks already on the market. Hyundai is also working to keep the price of the upcoming model affordable, making it one of the few manufacturers to do so.
Hyundai will increase the manufacturing of electric vehicles in various segments after seeing strong sales with its previously released electric vehicles, the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.
Design and Looks
Hyundai already sells a pickup on the market by the name of Hyundai Santa Cruz, but it is not entirely electric. The manufacturers have hinted that the body design of the next electric pickup would differ significantly from the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Even though Hyundai hasn’t revealed any additional information about its upcoming electric pickup, what little they have hinted at suggests that it will have a number of distinctive features in both its body and frame due to the next-gen electric vehicle platform.
The next Hyundai electric pickup truck won’t use the same design strategy as the pickup trucks that have already been on the market, and this will result in a wide range of customer preferences for electric pickup trucks.
According to reports, the future Hyundai electric pickup will be built with a unibody design rather than a conventional body-on-frame configuration. This indicates that Hyundai is willing to create an electric pickup that is more focused on lifestyle and versatility.
Expected Price
The Ford F-150 Lightning, which has a starting price of $49,995, will be the primary rival of the impending Hyundai electric pickup truck.
Due to Hyundai’s goal of building an affordable electric pickup, the price of its future model will be slightly lower than that of the Ford-150 Lightning.
Expected Launch
It will be challenging for Hyundai to build the next electric pickup without sacrificing features and performance given that it will be an affordable electric pickup truck. its expected to launch in the global market by 2024. Therefore, it would be intriguing to watch the towing capability and range of the next Hyundai electric Pickup, the two characteristics that makeup pickup trucks.
