Lithium Reserves Found in Jammu and Kashmir 

The Geological Survey of India, (GSI) has found 5.9 million tonnes of inferred resources (G3) in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

With the flourishing situation in the EV Industry, Lithium is a critical factor, Lithium is used mainly in the manufacturing of EV batteries.

Why Lithium is Crucial

As the government pushes the use of electric vehicles the demand for lithium is on the rise. It is also used in the electricity department for storage utilities.

The government of India approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for manufacturing Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) in the country. The layout of the plan is 18,100 crores for a duration of five years.

In the upcoming season, the GSI is taking up 966 programs comprising 318 mineral exploration projects including 12 marine investigation projects.
