Volkswagen and Bosch collaborate for industrialization of the production of Battery Cells:
Volkswagen and Bosch have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to industrialize the battery cell production process. The companies hope to establish a project unit as a result of this to investigate the potential of industrial-scale battery manufacture in Europe.

Both companies propose to provide battery cell and system manufacturers with integrated battery production systems, as well as on-site ramp-up and maintenance support, as well as the whole range of processes and components required for large-scale battery cell and system manufacturing.
The brands are aiming for the mass production of environmentally friendly and cutting-edge batteries. This action is also a step toward carbon neutrality because it follows the strategy of local production. Volkswagen further stated that this relationship will assist the company in achieving its electric mobility ambitions.
The demand for all areas of battery production, including the equipment of future Giga factories, is robust and expanding, according to Thomas Schmall, Volkswagen Group Board Member for Technology.

Robert Bosch GmbH Member of the Board of Management Rolf Najork remarked that the company understands battery technology and how to manufacture it.

Volkswagen and Bosch are working together to prepare the new company’s launch by the end of 2022.
