The company has been testing both these cars on the Indian roads for the last few months. According to Autocar India, the inadequate ground clearance of the Model 3 is causing issues on the Indian roads. It only has a ground clearance of 140mm.
It is said to have hit 160 out of the 200-speed breakers it has passed on. Unlike the Air Suspension on Model S and Model X, the Coil Spring Suspension System on Model 3 can’t be adjusted on the go.
As per the recommendation by the testing agency, Tesla has to increase the ground clearance by 25mm to have a smooth ride on the Indian roads. On the other hand, the Model Y has a ground clearance of 167 mm. Since it takes time for the reengineering, the Model Y might become the first Tesla to launch in the Indian market.
