An additional subsidy from FAME India, the Rajasthan government has announced its own state subsidy for electric vehicles (as recently announced by Maharashtra and Gujarat). Rajasthan EV Policy will mainly reduce the cost of electric two-wheelers in the state as the government will now have to reimburse the state’s Goods and Services Tax (SGST) and offer a one-time incentive based on the battery capacity of the EV sold.

Rajasthan Electric Vehicle Policy 2021

The major impact of Rajasthan EV Policy 2021 will be seen in the prices of electric two-wheelers. All electric scooters and motorcycles sold and registered in the state between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022, will be eligible for SGST reimbursement.

Electric scooters and motorcycles with battery capacity up to 2 kWh will be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 5,000. Models with a battery capacity of 2 to 4 kWh will be eligible for an incentive of Rs 7,000; Those with battery capacity between 4 to 5 kWh will get an incentive of Rs 9,000, while electric two-wheelers with battery capacity above 5 kWh will be eligible for an incentive of Rs 10,000.

Following are the Incentives on the basis of battery capacity: Rajasthan Electric Vehicle Policy 2021

Ather Energy – which has an outlet in Jaipur – is likely to see a drop in the prices of its electric scooters by around Rs 9,000 – 10,000, as the size of their batteries will give them an incentive of Rs 7,000, and the SGST amount to the tune of around Rs 3,000 overall. If the ex-showroom price of the bike in Rajasthan is the same as in other states, then the effective cost for the buyers would be around Rs 97,000. Most models from Hero Electric and Okinawa Autotech are likely to see a price drop of around Rs 7,000 – 10,000 in Rajasthan. Additionally, Rajasthan is offering similar subsidies for electric auto-rickshaws and goods carriers, with one-time incentives ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.
