At the Beijing Motor Show in May 2021, Piaggio unveiled the Piaggio One, their newest electric scooter. To emphasize that this electric scooter is for the youth, Piaggio used Tik Tok to live-stream the launch ceremony.
The Piaggio One is largely aimed towards young people, with the slogan “One for all, all for One.” — a term that sums up Piaggio’s global launch strategy. In fact, a complete electric scooter platform based on the One is being developed, with electric motors ranging in size from mopeds to motorbikes. All models will be powered by a swappable Li-ion battery, similar to the swappable battery standards established by Piaggio with KTM, Yamaha, and Honda.

The Piaggio One is the entry-level model, with a 1.2kW motor and a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour. It also has the smallest battery of the three versions, weighing in at 1.8kWh, and, predictably, the shortest range of 55 kilometers.
The Piaggio One+, the mid-spec model, has the same 1.2kWh electric motor as the One but a 2.3kWh battery. This model has a top speed of 55 kph and a range of 100 kilometers on a single charge.
The Piaggio One Active is the highest-spec model, with a 2kW motor. It propels the scooter to a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, the battery capacity is the same as the One+, but the range is reduced to 85 kilometers. Piaggio claims that the batteries can be charged from zero to full in six hours.
Both ends of the spectrum use 175mm discs, with CBS as standard on the top-end Active. Piaggio has fitted the One with a front trailing link suspension similar to that seen on Vespas, as well as twin rear preload-adjustable shock absorbers. The scooter has 10-inch wheels with CST Urban Travel 100-section tires.
Furthermore, the Piaggio electric scooter is somewhat expensive for its class, with a starting price of CNY 17,800 (about Rs 2.03 lakh). Piaggio has tried to compensate for the higher price by including a 5.5-inch full-color LCD instrument cluster, a replaceable battery pack for all models, a keyless start, all-LED lighting, and regenerative braking.
The Piaggio One electric scooter will be available in Europe by the end of this year. In India, Instead of the Piaggio One, a Vespa electric scooter made exclusively for the Indian market seems expected.
