The automobile industry has witnessed a new player in the market, MG Comet, which has recently launched a compact electric car priced under INR 8 Lakh. However, this launch has not gone unnoticed by its competitors, and some are becoming increasingly anxious about the newcomer’s growing popularity.

Reports suggest that several campaigns have been launched by rival companies, targeting the MG Comet in a bid to counter its success. One such campaign came to light recently when Tata released a poster that appeared to be critical of the new electric car.

Battery and Charging options

The two options available are the 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh lithium-ion batteries. Currently, the 19.2 kWh comes with a 3.3 kW AC charger option, which is a fast charger and has a non-detachable battery. The 24 kWh battery, on the other hand, offers two charging options – a 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW AC charger, both of which are fast chargers and have non-detachable batteries.

Price and Range

The 19.2 kWh battery has a range of 250 km on a single charge, while the 24 kWh battery can give you up to 315 km of range. The 19.2 kWh battery is available in two variants – XE and XT, priced at Rs. 8.49 lakhs and Rs. 9.09 lakhs respectively.

The 24 kWh battery, on the other hand, is available in five variants, with prices ranging from Rs. 9.99 lakhs to Rs. 11.79 lakhs. Under the 3.3 kW AC charger, the car is available in three variants – XT, XZ+, and XZ+ tech LUX. The 7.2 kW AC charger, on the other hand, is available in two variants – XZ+ and XZ+ tech LUX.

Acceleration and Warranty 

The acceleration of the Tiago EV is impressive, with a 0-60 km/hr time of just 5.7 seconds. Tata Motors also offers a warranty of 8 years or 1.6 lakh km, whichever is less, for added peace of mind.

Battery and Charging options

One of the most talked-about features of this vehicle is its 17.3kWh prismatic cell battery. But that’s not all – the MG Comet also boasts an IP67-rated battery, providing resistance to both water and dust. This means that the car can withstand harsh weather conditions and off-road adventures, making it an ideal choice for those who love to explore the outdoors.

Not only is this compact electric car the most affordable option in its price range, but it also boasts an incredibly low charging cost. According to reports, it costs just Rs. 519 to cover a distance of 1000 km – making it one of the most cost-effective options on the market today. The electric car can be charged using a home charger of 3.3KW it takes around 7 hours to charge.

The 17.3 kWh is claimed to offer an impressive range of 230kms on a single charge. The MG Comet electric car is offered at a price range of INR 7.98 Lakhs

The MG Comet comes with an incredible 8-year battery warranty, providing peace of mind to drivers and ensuring that their investment is protected for years to come. With the added benefit of covering up to 1.2 lakh kilometers, this warranty is one of the most comprehensive and generous in the electric car market.
