German automaker Mercedes-Benz on Monday unveiled an electric car with a range of 620 miles or 1,000 kilometers.
The VISION EQXX has the potential for electric vehicle road trips and overall adoption, offering a significantly greater range than any other EV in the market.
“The technology program behind Vision EQXX will define and enable future Mercedes-Benz models and features,” said Marcus Schaefer, member of the management board of Daimler AG and chief technology officer responsible for development and procurement at Mercedes-Benz AG.

Solar Cells Power
The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX will derive additional power from 117 solar cells installed on the roof. Developed with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE – the largest solar energy research institute in Europe – the solar cells will reduce energy extraction on high-voltage systems.
Under ideal conditions, Mercedes-Benz says, an additional 15 miles, or 25 km, would be generated from solar cells.
