2025 Kia EV2 Small SUV Spied Kia EV2 small electric SUV spotted ahead of launch in 2025 https://e-vehicleinfo.com/kia-ev2-small-electric-suv-spotted/Earlier this year, Kia made waves in the global market with the launch of the EV3. Now, the company has begun testing the EV2, as revealed by newly surfaced spy shots. The EV2 was spotted next to a Volkswagen ID.3, offering a glimpse of its size and overall dimensions.

This new model is expected to bring exciting features and performance capabilities to the electric vehicle segment, especially considering its similarities with Kia’s flagship electric car, the EV9.

Kia EV2 Design and Exterior Features

The design of the Kia EV2, as seen in the spy shots, suggests a boxy and robust profile. Key elements include vertically stacked lighting, a square-shaped bonnet, and a flat front fascia. These features align with the test mule spied in India, which is rumored to be released as the Clavis or Syros.

The charging port is positioned at the front, similar to the EV3, possibly indicating a front-wheel-drive setup based on Kia’s e-GMP platform.

The EV2’s overall design draws inspiration from the EV9, with a sporty, dual-tone alloy wheel design, dual-tone ORVMs, and a slightly tapering roofline.

Kia EV2 Rear and Side Design Highlights

The EV2 stands out with several unique design elements. It features thick body cladding and prominent wheel arches, contributing to its muscular look.

The rear section is equipped with edgy tail lamps and high-mounted stop lamps, ensuring a distinctive appearance. The side profile showcases a conventional door handle setup, blacked-out B pillars, and roof rails.

These features, combined with the overall styling, give the Kia EV2 a bold and futuristic feel.

Kia EV2 Battery and Range Specifications

Kia is expected to equip the EV2 with multiple battery options, likely including a 42-kWh LFP battery and a 62-kWh NMC battery.

Based on the WLTP cycle, these configurations would offer ranges of 300 km and 439 km, respectively. Fast charging is expected to be a key feature, with a DC fast charger allowing users to charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

The EV2 will likely follow the performance trends set by the EV3, which is powered by a 150 kW motor and achieves a 0-100 kmph sprint in 7.5 seconds.

Battery Type Capacity Range (WLTP) Charging Time (10%-80%)
LFP Battery 42 kWh 300 km 30 minutes
NMC Battery 62 kWh 439 km 30 minutes

Kia EV2 Advanced Features and Performance

In addition to its powerful battery options, the Kia EV2 is likely to feature some cutting-edge technologies. This includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, which enables the car to function as a portable power source. V2L allows users to charge devices like laptops and coffee machines directly from the car.

The EV2’s motors will provide fast acceleration, following the high-performance standards of other Kia electric models like the EV3.

India-Specific Launch and Variants

While the EV2 is being tested for global markets, Kia has different plans for India. Instead of the EV2, India is expected to receive a modified version, possibly under the names Clavis or Syros. These models, already spotted in testing, will feature both ICE and EV variants.

The official launch in India is anticipated to happen next year, bringing more versatility to Kia’s Indian electric vehicle lineup.

The Kia Syros is expected to be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in the brand’s lineup, with a potential starting price of around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
It will be available in both petrol and electric variants. The petrol version of the Syros is likely to launch in mid-2025, followed by the electric variant approximately six months after the ICE version’s debut.
