VinFast announced on Thursday that it has reached a deal with Autonomy, a U.S. car subscription service, to supply more than 2,500 units. This is the company’s largest corporate order to date and is a part of a market expansion strategy. VinFast would start delivering cars to the company over the following 12 months.
Having stopped making gasoline-powered vehicles in preparation for entering the American market, where it intends to compete with established automakers and deliver its first batch of 5,000 all-electric sport utility vehicles in December.
In a joint statement, the firms stated that Autonomy had initially bought only 400 units in August. VinFast intends to display two new EV vehicles, the VF 6 and VF 7, at the upcoming Los Angeles car show this week, according to the statement.
By 2026, VinFast anticipates selling 750,000 EVs annually after taking nearly 65,000 reservations worldwide.
With an initially estimated capacity of 150,000 EVs per year, VinFast announced it would construct a production facility in North Carolina. In order to secure at least $4 billion in funding for the project, it approached banks in July.
